I HATE exclusive DLC.
It's way worse then having exclusive games. In that case you just accept, "OK I'll never get to play that game on the system I own," and that's fine BUT with EDLC you get to play the game and if you want to expand on it OH EFFING WELL!
It has 2 sides. If it's big people miss out on the other system. If it is small, you wonder why it's even exclusive in the first place.
Take GTAIV's DLC. It's effing huge. Why the hell do I have to miss out on that? I LOVED GTA IV (completed it again the other week and it STILL blows me away) and I bought the game and the content is made but NOOO MS had to be selfish and snatch this.
It's already been made and it I'm shafted out of it because I chose the "wrong" console.
Take The Joker in Batman. It's small but it's a bit of fun. Why can't 360 owners have this? Sure it's not the biggest DLC, but it's a small extra and fun thing to mess around with.
I was actually watching The Bonus Round on Gametrailers TV about this and their answer made me so mad. The question was whether if exclusive DLC was fair and all their answers were a resounding "yes."
You know why it's a resounding yes? Because everyone there has all the consoles and they can pick whatever version they want. They did not ONCE put themselves in the shoes of a single console owner and they won't understand the frustration of EDLC.
They were saying how it's good for companies to do this because it shows "love to their fanbase." Whatever! It just excludes people from great content all because of greed and deep pockets (and deep something else...).
Obviously this all stems from me not being able to play GTA IV expansions. They look beautiful and I can't play them. I PRAY they both come later in the year or any time to the PS3.
I hope companies realize this is a horrible idea and put a stop to the madness.
Thoughts?
PS: The only thing I think is somewhat cool is when they both have EDLC like in Dead Space where each console got a different suit. And that's a maybe.
EDIT: I just read this online about L&D for GTAIV:
"Perhaps the biggest new feature in The Lost and Damned is the availability of mid-mission checkpoints."
The only flaw in GTAIV has been fixed and I can't see it. This is ONLY reason that held me back from giving this a 10 and it has been fixed... I just got more angry about this.

Is just one way for the big company to make more money out of you and be competitive at the same time. Some would argue that they have all the systems therefore whether a game have exclusive DLC is no matter to them but they missed the point. The point is and I agree with you're view on exclusive DLC is in way, stupid and unnecessary that morally we shouldn't make to buy all the consoles in the first place nor to choose in the first place. That is not free choice nor is free will. However, having said that, at a business point of view, there's nothing really wrong with it. After all it is a free market and in a free market, is competitive therefore business will use what ever means to secure and expand their market. No matter you're a one console owner or all consoles' owner... At the end, is all part of the marketing plan from MS, Sony and Nintendo. To make the sell. Is hard to be black and white about such issue but yes, Publishers and developers should be more considerate when releasing exclusive DLC.

I absolutely hate the idea of exclusive DLC. It's absolutely rooted and annoys me to no end. I hate it when companies pay for non-exclusive DLC to be released earlier on their console. It's pathetic and inexcusable. I also hate it when Microsoft has a special edition Xbox 360 made based around a multi-platform game. *Cough* Resident Evil 5 *Cough* Modern Warfare 2 *Cough*
I really do hope that they end up giving us PlayStation 3 owners a chance to play the exclusive DLC without having to purchase an Xbox 360. *Crosses fingers*

@M0wen10: Yeah it totally sucks. You make the content and screw yourself out of money for that version and only half the people who bought it experience it. Lame.
@Thomas-Crown: I agree with you but I'd really like to see that money spent on other different exclusive games. 50 million for GTAIV could have funded something else and there's no way they made profit on that money spent.
@synyster-666: Totally agree. MS pisses me off so much in their business decisions. They always try to take and not innovate with their own brain. Instead of buying GTAIV expansions, why not make a whole other new game?

Good point.

@Thomas-Crown: Thanks.
It's more of a thing that I hate with MS is that they always want what Sony (or Nintendo) has or will take it away from them rather then making something new and awesome. That "WE DON'T WANT THE PS3 TO HAVE NICE THINGZ!!" attitude they have sickens me.
It just made them look desperate and dumb because there's no way the DLC sold enough to balance that out, even with people who bought the game on 360 because of that DLC. Just as a disclaimer, I don't hate the 360, just MS. There IS a difference.

I have a 360 and I agree... its stupid... if both systems have the game, they should both get the DLC as well. It's not right for people who paid $59 for a game and can't even enjoy the expansions

Yeah I hate exclusive DLC, it actually seems worse than exclusive games because then people who loved it on one system get shafted.

@theslimdavylp: Yeah it totally sucks and hearing how awesome they are doesn't help.
@SPYDER0416: Yes completely and especially for people who already bought their console. I wouldn't have purchased a 360 just for this anyway, it would have just been a nuisance.

I'm not much of a fan of DLC in general. I prefer it when a game is complete on the disc; no need for patches, and no missing content. Yes, I miss the days when the complete game came on the disc.
Of course, those wonderful days are over, so I have to deal with the present. The DLC that I'm most willing to accept is the free kind, though I'm still not completely fond of it, even though it's free. It's good that games can be expanded on, but I don't want to have to pay extra for the full experience; as if paying $60 for a game wasn't already enough.
Take the new PoP for example: the DLC came out a skint three months after its release, so if you want to experience the proper ending, you have to pay even more, and it's not even available to the people who bought the game for PC. This is one of the reasons I hate DLC; it's that it's now possible to pull **** like this. You can probably guess that I hate EDLC even more than regular DLC, as even more people are unable to access the content.
Though, I guess I should be appreciative of games being released at retail at all, since the industry seems to be moving towards a state where I have less control over the game than the people I'll have to download it from if I want to play it.
GTA4 is one of my favourite games, so I'm also really hoping that TLaD and Ballad manage to find their way over. If they don't, I'll probably pick up the TLaD-Ballad bundle when I get around to getting a 360.

It's a way of the company spoil their clients, of course it sucks because I only have a ps3, but it is true.
And with this EDLC just shows how much MS do for their Xbox owners

I agree, DLC is never a fair deal if you don't own both consoles but even in that regard, gamers are pushed towards specific console forcefully. Take my point on Fallout 3. I still haven't bought the game since I wanted the DLC and now I'll have one. If PS3 DLC wasn't announced many months ago I'd had just purchased the regular game and that would be the end of it. I don't appreciate the DLC exclusivity but it's business. Unlike last generation where companies competed who will release better quality game, today people rage over how to sell more consoles and how to screw up more people.
Sometimes, competition isn't the positive aspect. Current generation is more or less a perfect point.
