First off, No special graphics or pictures as I couldn't even draw my self out of a box. No less find out how to make stuff in photoshop any time soon.

Kane and Lynch is one of those games you love to love yet can not fully tell peopel they should buy it or do you feel compelled to buy it unless on sell in a few years for another playthrough. If you have ever played a Hitman game noticably the latest one Blood Money you have a idea what the combat system is in this games as it uses a improve combat system from the hitman series.

Now first off if you like HEAT or Colliterial or any other Micheal Mann(spelling) Flims you need to go and pick this game up for a rental ASAP. The game's main story is that Kane is offered a deal by his old partner's he betrayed to get back all the money he stole in 3 days and this way only Kane will be killed and not his wife and daughter as well. From here you go on with the story of other character you love to hate.

The first main mission is you on a bank heist and a shootout with the cops and bank secuirty guns blazing as you leap into your get away van then have a shootout with cops on the highway that are chasing you as you try to evade them. This is only the tip of a great story full of your typical at the end of there rob criminals there is no pretty boys here girls. Only hardend criminals willing to shoot anyone who gets in there way.

The main flaw is the game ends rather shortly I would say maybe 6 hours and the multiplayer while a great concept of robbing a bank with others then having the abailty to betray your team mates. Feels tacked on and not worthy of to many hours of investment. The main conceren some think is the controls and the aiming which I find is more realsitic which may turn some people off of the game depending how arcurate you like.

From a small personal experaince of shooting my ex's 9mm pistol I could see how under stress, filled with anderaline drugs and being shot at. Firing a high powered rifle may need to require you a few clips full to accurately hit your target. Plus it seems from many i've heard of when you fire a gun the bullet lacks a direct path to the target but can be inches away from where you aimed.

The effect though is a great feeling of being in huge gunfights with cops empyting bullets and bullets out into a city. One scene has you moving car to car firing your gun out over a crowaded streets as your bullets take down kids adults cops or anyone who gets between you and the cops.

-----

Overall I would give the game a must rent title. It offers a blockbuster crime movie feel and devliers many fun and amazing amounts as well as a story that with two endings will either make you feel a,"Damned if you do, Damned if you don't" feeling.

Great review, I love the movie Heat, though strangly have never seen Collateral, though I''m sure it was a great movie as well. I really enjoyed Blood Money, and like crime movies so it sounds like its up my alley. I'll have to check it out soon

I'm not sure about this game yet. It's not the normal type of thing I would pick up. Still...

@Spikie
Thanks,Ya I normaly dont do reviews but was a game saddly that will be over looked.Yes you should deffintly go rent and enjoy it then. If you liked blood money you know how the combat works. It is bascily a all combat hit man game.

@AzzelKosMos
Ya I think you should try if you like crime movies, The game has a few tough spots like maybe 2-3 in the 5 hours but none to tough. But other then that the pacing flows like a crime movie. How ever if you do not like shaddy underground type crime movies to begin with. It's one of those love it or hate it type of games. Kind of like movies like HEAT And such either you like the crime movies or you hate them so why i feel some reviews are to harsh but then again I would rate it lower as well for 60$ and not like the 5$ for a rental.

Nice Review. But I'm more of a "Blow" or "American Gangster" kind of fan. Never liked the "Godfather" or "Scarface" never seen "HEAT" and I'm not sure about "Collateral"? Is that the one with Jamie Fox and Tom Cruise??? If it is, then I didn't like it either. lol. Anyways, I doubt I'll rent it, with he review that Gamespot and other website gave it, it sounds like the gameplay is broken and the story lacks interest on the characters. Hopefully one of my friends will buy his game only because the box art look nice and I'll grab it from him, but other than that I'll pass. Besides I just got AC and ME was release yesterday . Anyways, happy Thanksgiving. Don't eat to many left overs.

Well the story is alot like "Blow" character wise, I mean basicly you have two ex thugs who are now basicly in their 30's/40's at the end of there rope meaning they have scars and noticably older then many other people in the bussiness. I think the story if anything is why its worth the rent I just feel alot of people do not like really being a bad guy. Where you put your wife and daughter in danger.

Or having the abailty to go out and see a family passing by get gunned down. As your bullets miss the cops but starts civilians or when you take them hostage kind of thing.Why alot of reviews think the characters are unlikeable so to speak. IF you've seen a Al Pacino(sp) movie dealing with bank robbing or heists it's basicly what this game is full action never a dull moment gun fights with cars fliping over,cops dying, and tons of collateral damage as innocents are taken down. but there's also scenes where you'll track down people who wronged you to small places in south america and be in the middle of a war zone when you fight as well.

One of the better levels is a Toyko night club as you are looking for a VIP. There security may spot you and fire at you and as you fire back the dancers are trying to run away from the gun shots but your bullets and the guards slowly start litteraing the floors with bodies and blood. It really puts into a idea what happens when you unload boxes of bullets into a busy nightclub and who really pays.

But ya, I would suggest trying it when its like 20$ if you only buy games. or renting it for the small amount at places like blockbuster. For what I would call a 7.0ish game its a above average game as 5 would be average. But its not a AAA type game but its enough you'll sit back and be happy its really paced well and has enough of a major blockbuster movie feel to it with all the gun play im sure you'll like. plus for 5$ I feel all the cool moments like shooting down cop cars in LA as you gun down other cars to make them crash into the cops was well down as well.

With all your Physcogentic sociology talk, I feel off balance and indecisive. You like playing with my head don't you? I mean, with all of the points you threw out, I feels more of a purchase. When I finish AC, if I see it on Blockbuster I'll give it a try. . Thanks.

hehe,Nah deffintly not worth 60$ at all on any level. Though prolly why reviews are low they think of it as a 60$ game. I think of it as part of my gamefly account so easy to rent play enjoy send it back. So I think for a rental the stuff is good enough to work around the short or shallow gameplay at times.

But like I said if you like crime movies type grittyness it'll be fun story. why I recommned it as a rental and i may buy it on gamefly in a few months for like 20ish or wait till 15$ as then i think it will be worth it. for a 5-10 rental though you'll have enough fun and if you beat it in a day its like a movie i felt with all the constant action.

But hopefully you'll like it do tell me if you like it or not after you rent it to ^.^

Hi I am new on gamespot, and I am really intrested in buying Kane and Lynch. I do not have any rental stores near me, and gamefly requires a credit card, so I have to purchase the games I want to play. But anyways my question for you is, even though you said its worth a rental, do you think for someone who loves the Hitman games, and really enjoys movies like heat that its worth buying. Because I just really think the game looks right up my alley. Thanks

Hmm, That's a hard call. I love Kane and Lynch though I have not tried a second play through prolly will soon through. But I think if you find it at 40$ or so it's worth it if you like Hitman and crimal movies like HEAT as it draws heavily off of both of these types.

How ever unlike Hitman the missions are more linear and leave very little in the way you can kill a person unlike hitman with many options to kill or sneak in. KnL is much more you have one path so maybe you can play normal then play hard and find you have to use more cover and such.

The game is short 6 hours or so but it's like a action movie like heat its long enough your happy but at the same time you want more of the intense gun fights and action.

Overall. I would say wait for a price cut. Its a fun game but for 60$ there's many other games that will give you more replay and more for your money. But deffintly do keep the game on your list for when it goes down or you can rent.

Great review, I totally agree with you word for word. And the hitman people did a good job for this game. I really enjoy it.
