Yesterday was an important day for me, it was the day I went to see Eric Clapton in concert. For those of you that even just have a quick look at my blog it is very easy to see that I mentioned it before. I was expecting it to be a sunny day since it was going to be out doors but since it is Ireland rain was expected all day long. My brother, my dad and I were all going, so we firstly had to get a bus to Dublin which lasted about 2 hours or maybe 2 and a 1/2. Once we had reached Dublin at about 4, I found that 2 of my cousins who drove from Dundalk have already got to the concert and where at the very front (I was jealous). After a bite to eat we took the train to Malahide where the concert was taking place, at this point we could see rain clouds but that didn't stop me at all. So when we finally reached the area in which the concert was taking place we were glad to see that there was only a few hundred people there, 300 hundred at the most unfortunately we couldn't reach the front where my cousins were but we managed to get about 10 rows back which gave us an amazing view none the less. We began waiting from 5.00 until 6.30 when the supporting band came on, they were good they played Voodoo Child but they only stayed on for 1/2 an hour and at this point it had begun to rain and I mean it rained. It was by far the wettest day and coldest day of the year and the fact that it is in the Summer. But it kept raining until Eric and his band came on at 8.15 and the first thing he said was "You have my complete and total respect for staying here", he began by playing a few popular but not too well known songs like Running On Faith and Before You Accuse Me. Later something scarey happened just while it was about half way through and everyone was really getting into it, here is a video as it is the best way to describe it - Click Here. He still continued to play Layla dispite the whole crowd, about 40,000 people starting to complain but later near the end of the song the power came back on and all was well. He played many known songs like Layla, Wonderful Tonight and Cocaine which really got the crowd going especailly with Cocaine. The only did one encore which was still good but then trying to get home, we had to walk about 600 yards to the train station which wouldn't have been so bad but about 40,000 people trying to get out at once didn't help and it was made even worse that about 1/4 of them for going on the same train as us. But when we finally got in the train and arrived back in Dublin center at about 11.30 which wouldn't have been so bad but I had been up to 3.00 am the previous night and when the bus finally arrived at 12.00 it was about 2 and a half hours before we got home because it had to stop at the airport which didn't help. But on and all it was a brilliant day, not just my first Eric Clapton concert but my first concert, I had previously went to the Blues Festival in a nearby town 2 years in a row but that was it.

Here is an image of the ticket.

Here is an image of the wrist band we were given at the entrance.

Could someone tell me how to get that wrist band, I don't want to rip it but as far as I can see there is no way to take it off, sorry if you have no idea because off how the image is.

Pretty interesting read. Besides all the rain you still managed to have a good time. I've been to concerts before but it's been awhile since I've gone to one. I don't have a clue on how to take the wristband off either.

fireandcloud: Glad you enjoyed reading, you know it wasn't me that filmed it? Also yes, yes it was really exiciting since he is my favourate guitarist.

stephanime: Well you do live in California so I guess you wouldn't get too much rain, I would recommend you go to concerts more. Even if the music isn't as good as it could be, the atmosphere is always good. It was funny, from what I saw including me there was only about 20 people under the age of 18 at it

You're first concert, eh? Yeah, I've never really been to a real concert before (unless you count the Grand Ole Opry or an oldies concert that I went to when I was like 8 and 10 respectively ), so I'm just about in the same boat as you. That sounded like it was a riot, though. My mom likes Eric Clapton, so I have grown to become fond of his music. It's pretty good. That sounded like one hell of an adventure getting in and out of there, though.

gohantech00: Well you could say you have been to concerts before, sure you might not be able to remember them but you were still there. Also good to know someone else likes Eric.

paul939: In one word - Yes.

thenewau25: You should probably at least take a break.

Just cut the wrist band. It looks like those you get at the hospital, and I always keep mine. I just snip it off.

Old Slowhand is definitely a legend. Makes my first concert (Quiet Riot '84) pale in comparison.
