A few weeks ago Ricardo suggested that I attend PAX to do a live GameSpot interview about WAR. You know what happens when Ricardo wills something?

It happens.

Before the interview, I decided, I vowed that I was going to talk slowly. So I sat down with a friend, and he pretended to interview me.

"So Carrie, tell me about the Tome..."

I took a deep breath.

"The Tome...well... okay... ...It's this book, see..."

Words left me. Apparently, if I'm not going a mile-a-minute hopped up on nervous energy, then I just forget everything I have to say. So I just want you to know that I tried to slow it down. But it's not me.

Anyway, that experience, and that interview especially, was thrilling. PAX is an incredibly awesome show. One of my coworkers likened it to the gamer's Woodstock. It felt really accepting and exciting, and I believed that everybody there was just interested in having a good time.

If you've ever been interested in attending E3, I highly recommend checking out PAX next year. People are saying that it's filling the void that E3 left, but honestly, I think that's selling it short. In terms of the player experience, inclusiveness, and general attitude at the show... it's way better.

It was a great surprise seeing you on the PAX coverage and I thought you did very well. The information came across very well and if you felt that going to fast would mean people missed bits of information, well I didn't so personally I wouldn't worry about it.

Really hope the game does well and the Tome sounds really good, a great thing for completionists.

It was a great surprise to see you on GameSpot again! Hopefully you'll head over for On The Spot soon.

I´m going to be honest and tell you that I didnt 100% get the Tome, and WHY I would want to use it except for equipping titles. But you seem to be really into it and it might be an extremely useful tool. It was nice seeing you again even tho you talked like a speeding bullet

I was going to attend PAX but the timing didn't quite work out - I was a bit disappointed as PAX is the only gaming event that I actually live close enough to attend. One passport and a few hour ferry ride and I'm in Seattle and everything. The downside? That ferry costs almost as much as a plane ticket, and they complain when you bring beer on board.

"You're on your way kid."

I was really surprised and happy to see you on GS. Your interview was clear and very informative, in my point of view. I hope to see you on "on the spot" to show off more of the game.

I was playing some games with PAX on in the background and suddenly I thought I heard your voice, but I wasn't sure. Once I was sure I watched the whole thing, even though I'm not interested in War Hammer

She's firin' on all cylinders, boys, don't try ta tame'er less ye wants to suffer a blown heart gasket -tear-
I dunno where that came from... Anyway, the tome of knowledge (kinda like an achievement system for just doin general "stuff" from what i gathered) sounds like a great idea for this type of game, accentuating the exploration aspect of MMOs on top of the other standard "layers" as you call them.

It was pretty cool seeing you at pax, passed ya a few times on the escalator. Wow, that sounded a bit stalker-ish...

Youll get it

Really cool to see you again, Carrie. You seem to enjoy your new position at Blizzard. Kinda makes me wish I cared about WoW. ;D

You were great and the game looks friggin' sweet! I can't wait!
Posted Aug 28, 2007 3:08 am PT

your interview was 1st thanks for informing. the only competition was ryans interview with the slightly drunken HAZE PR guy. so informative AND entertaining/funny. same for u. also CROC FTW its one of my favorite games.

Er, no, she doesn't work Blizzard, she works at EA Mythic and is working on Warhammer; Age of Reckoning otherwise known as WAR.
Anyhow this and Tabula Rasa are the next MMO's I'm trying. Wow has been dead for me for awhile even before it was a year old and the expansions are totally weak so there is no chance I would ever go back.

i also thought it was Beastary not beastiary i guess i was wrong.

Hi!
Didnt even knew you had left GS..one gets spends a period away from GS and finds out that good people are leaving it...Carrie&Richie..did i miss more people(what happened to Ocampo, i really like his reviews on FPS?)

Back to topic: good interview, you did well on re-entering GS on the other side of the camera. Tome of Knowledge seems way cool, hope it records alot, encounter with the very special chars of the Warhammer World, their reaction etc. Thumbs up and eagerly awaitng for a lucky breakin to the closed beta, or a possible open beta of this game..if not a sure buy in 2008 for its debut!

Go Carrie! Go WO! Go Tzeench!!

Carrie, you did a great job on the interview, nice shout out to the chat room. Btw, the tome in warhammer sounds great, I love achevements and this looks like it will compell me to find them all.

When will we be seeing you on On the Spot!? DO IT! I will think very Ricardo-ish thoughts and will you to do it until you do.
Posted Aug 29, 2007 10:21 am PT
The peeps really liked it when you gave a shout out to the chat room.

Glad to see you're enjoying the new job+promotions, and that it's worth all the inevitable hours. Better be careful with your eclectic music posts or I am like so totally going to come back from the grave and inundate you with classical banjo again.

PS I used to be a big warhammer geek back in the day. I don't play anymore, but I still feel like painting those damn figures once in a while. So much fun.

Great work Carrie, but it is a shame we never played against each other on Xbox Live.
Posted Aug 30, 2007 3:55 pm PT
Anyone have a link to the interview? I haven't seen it.
