I am now the owner of a slightly used 2009 Toyota Camry LE. I can't believe it myself.

Well last night before coming home from work, I decided to stop and get my shopping out of the way. I knew that I needed to stop at Target because they had the second season of "The Tudors" on sale. What I didn't expect was that I could be walking out of there with a bag full of TV DVDs. I swear that is my weakness in life.
Another show that I can't get enough of is "Ace of Cakes." I watched it for the first time at my ex-boyfriend's friend's apartment and was fascinated by the whole process. I love to learn about everything and watching Charm City Cakes come up with all different ideas/designs for cakes is addicting to me. Well what I wasn't expecting was for Target to have both the first and second season (especially since Amazon says that it's discontinued!). I told my mom about the show and know that she is going to be amazed by it too!
Because I missed it on TV the first time around and because it just seems so goofy and well recommended, I picked up seasons 1-3 of "Arrested Development". It sounds like it is going to be another of those crazy family stories kinda like "SOAP".
My only problem in life is that now I need to find the time to watch all the TV and movies that I've purchased recently.(All of which were on sale or just cheap)
Since I take the train to work I've been reading like crazy. I can't even begin to list all the books that I've read in the last couple of months. The lady at work that I borrow them from says that I'm her fastest reader. Currently slowly making my way through "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. At 973 pages it is the longest book that I have ever read, and a heavy sucker to carry around.
Until next time...

So what's new? I know that it's been a long time since a post so I figured that I would say hello and tell you what's new.
Lately I've been watching a lot of TV, reading quite a few books, and working.
Thanks to the Circuit City closeout sales I've bought a ton of movies and a few TV shows. So I have been busy watching them. My latest viewings have been "Weeds", "Big Love", and "Mad Men".
I had purchased seasons 1-3 of "Weeds" a few months ago and determined that it was about time I watched them. While the subject matter and the language are shocking, there is something about that show that made me keep watching and enjoying every minute of it. I know this might be a bit of a stretch for some people but I like to compare it to "I Love Lucy." One of the things that was crucially important to the writers of "I Love Lucy" was that everything be logical. "Weeds" fits this criteria to a T. I can logically see how everything could happen to Nancy Botwin. It makes me wonder what is going to happen next. The good news is that season 4 comes out right before my birthday so that is something that I am going to be asking for.
At the closeout sales I came across seasons 1 & 2 of "Big Love" at two different stores which made the trips to those stores totally worth it. This show amazes me. There is a warmth to the characters that I found surprising. It handles all the issues that come up in regards to plural marriage with candor and grace. I can't help seeing comparisons between this show and "The Sopranos" in terms of the hiding of the true identities and the pressure to the main male characters from all sides. There have been times when I needed to stop watching because the drama was too much but this is a show that I will continue watching and loving, though I know that it's not something that my friends or my mom will not enjoy watching.
"Mad Men" came into my life because of the retro nature of the show. I started watching season 1 with my mom over the summer but got derailed when the new season of regular TV appeared. I picked up the series again, starting from the beginning, and watched pretty much nonstop through season 1. My love for all things retro is apparent in my TV and movie choices so it's no surprise that I chose this show. Don Draper is one good looking fellow. It almost seems that no matter what you look like, if you have a retro makeover you're going to look so very attractive. This show also appeals to me because of the subject of advertising and sending out a message to the world through ads. I was a communications major in college, studying advertising, PR, and interpersonal as well as business communication; so the topics on the show hit close to home. I'm excited because season 2 comes out right before my birthday so it's another addition to the gift wish list.
I picked up reading again when my very close friend lent me almost all of her books. Once I finished those, I was looking for more. For work I take the train into downtown and back to my car so I have 1/2 an hour each way to read. Plus who doesn't love cuddling up with a book right before bed. Luckily a couple of my co-workers love to read and are willing to loan out their books. So far I have read "The Secret Life of Bees" (in a week) and "My Sister's Keeper" (in 3 days). Right now I am making my way slowly through "A Fine Balance."
If anyone has any other suggestions for good books or TV shows, I am open to them.
