Its insane how much depth is in the Disgaeas (I'm playing 2 and 3, though my Disgaea 3 group is five times larger and ten times higher level than my Disgaea 2 group). I've put 100+ hours into Disgaea 3 since beating it and I've barely scratched the surface (my main character has been reincarnated as a genius and is now level 300 out of a possible 9,999 and there are tons of enemies he hasn't beaten, classes he hasn't unlocked and items he hasn't found) and I don't think Disgaea 2 has much less depth.

For a little variety, today I decided to jump back into KZ2. I just played one game (7 half hour rounds) but it was really good stuff since the only mod on was faction balancing. My team lost 5-2, but as the saying goes, the other team knows it was in a fight (they weren't better players individually, just better organized).

I've only really played Soul Caliber with Kratos, but so far, so good. There's a single player mode in which on looks at a bunch of CPU opponents which is my favorite mode thus far. 'Skill' is indicated by the absolute numbers of matches they have fought as well as their win/loss record and thus far I haven't encountered any glaring AI holes, through I don't know if the AI plays the same character multiple ways as happens in VF. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for VF5R PSP, but until that happy day, Soul Caliber will do.

Also, I finally downloaded the Dissidia demo (its been around forever, I just ignored it, figuring it would be garbage) and was really impressed. Combat plays out exactly like it does in the big Cloud/Sephiroth faceoff at the end of Advent Children. Hitting a guy so hard the floor he is standing on shatters or knocking him through a pillar (whose chunks persist) is pretty cool. I played through the demo with each of the fighters and there was a good amount of variety in terms of attack styles, so I'm definentely going to pick Dissidia up in the near future (I kicking around whether to pick up this or Disgaea 2 first). I haven't had so much fun with a beat'em since Def Jam Vendetta 2.

The LBP dynamic theme (which has sackboy running on a globe against a background whose lighting and contents change to reflect the time of day) is gorgeous. I wish I could be there when my daughters (whose obsession with LBP is scary, though I limit them to an hour a day) see it. Its 3 bucks, so the price is a little on the high side, but for the LBP obsessed, its worth it.

I haven't formed a strong opinion of firmware update 3.0, but things seem to load faster than they did before and I didn't have a problem manuevering around in it.
