So, first things first, I turned 21 today. It's not really a big deal over here in the UK, or at least it isn't for me. There is really nothing different about turning 21 over here. It just means that now if I do take a trip to the U.S, I can drink legally.

Right now I wouldn't know it's my birthday though. I am currently toiling away writing an essay that is due on Monday. I am pretty much done (well, actually, I am over 1000 words over the word limit, but I still have things I want to write. Luckily my tutor gave me permission to go over the limit; his exact words were "Yeah, **** it, go over.") Anyway, the essay is a close analysis of a scene from any Tarkovsky film. I don't know how many of you are familiar with the work of Tarkovsky, but he's a hard nut to crack. I can appreciate some of the things he does in his films, but I just don't like his films. Anyway, I chose a scene from Andrei Rublev, my favourite of his films. You guys probably don't care though.

And because I have been so busy with uni, I haven't been playing that many games. I bought Forza 3 and have been playing that when I get a chance, but let me tell you, that game is massive! It's good though. I just wish there were more tracks that were not already featured in Forza 2.

I also bought Ballad of Gay Tony DLC for GTA4. I have only played a few missions, so I can't really talk about it that much. It's more GTA though, so that's cool. I also bought Fallout 3 GOTY as soon as it came out, but I haven't even opened it yet. I'll get round to that in the Winter break, I think. And I still have Fable 2 to play as well. And due to all of these games I have to play, with some other big games coming soon too, I have cancelled my rental service for a while, as that was just burning a hole in my pocket every month for games that I don't have time to play.

A couple of blogs ago I talked about pre-ordering Windows 7. I downloaded it and installed it when it was released and I love it. It's reliable. It's fast. It uses less resources than Vista. It looks great. It has a few nifty little features (my favourite being able to snap windows to each side of the screen, which makes it easy for me to watch a video while writing, which I have to do when writing about films ) Overall, Windows 7 is great, and getting it for only £30 was awesome!

Also, Modern Warfare 2 is out in 4 days time and I don't have to do an essay immediately after it comes out, so I will have a couple of days where I can just sit and play that! Woohoo!

Well Happy Birthday youngster! Did you ever have Vista? If so, is Windows 7 a huge improvement. I need a new rig but I wish they would still come with XP installed

Fan of COD...check out the Reginator on drugs(*don't do drugs guys and gals) http://www.nintendoeverything.com/?p=27269

£30, where from? Happy B-Day!!!

@Dracula68 - Yeah, I did have Vista. I actually had no major problems with Vista in my year and a half of using it. The only thing that annoyed me was the amount of resources it used, even when completely idle.

Happy birthday, my man! Milestone year or not, birthdays are fun. I thought you were older, though, for some reason...

I am hyped for MW2...But I have a huge Java project due on the 22nd looming over my head...Plus I finals the following few weeks...So I'm going to be way behind

@spazzx625 - It might just be because I am in my final year at university at 21. I started uni when I was only 17 and straight out of school, so I'm probably one of the youngest in my classes. Plus, I do actually act reasonably mature on this site

Afraid I am not familiar with Tarkovsky.

The Only Russian movie I have is Alexander Nevsky which is a good one but I rarely play VHS anymore and when I did research I could not find it available on DvD just laserdisc.

Hope you enjoy Tony. I opted for the PS3 first and can not afford a 360 yet, too many other expenses so I will have to miss this at least for now but there are plenty of other games

Anniversarial felicitations!

I agree about the Forza tracks. Happy COD playing next week - but I hope you do get round to exploring Fallout 3 sometime.

HB, dude! I didn't realize you were so young.

Well, best of luck on the essay, and Happy Birthday again. I'm afraid you won't get much more sympathy from me though. Try reading Heidegger's monolitically long and convoluted "Being and Time", or Immanuel Kant's incomprehensible "Critique of Pure Reason", and you'll thank your lucky stars you didn't do Philosophy. P.S. I've also enjoyed Windows 7. Since I only had XP before, I've been mightily impressed.

Happy Birthday ya dirty old wizard.

Now go out and shag anything that moves, and drink anything that's drinkable. Not in that order mind you.

Then next week we'll get the old crew together and play the crap outta some modern warfare 2. I can hear me and you moaning about snipers already...

Happy birthday Caddy, hope it was a good one! I'm thinking about getting a new laptop in the not-too-distant future so I imainge they'll all be loaded with Windows 7: good to hears its a major improvement on Vista (the screen snapping sounds very useful).

Essays in university and catching up with video game playing. You are one busy dude!
Posted Nov 7, 2009 11:24 am PT
Happy Birthday. I thought 21 was the big one. I think people just celebrate their 18th more because they can legally get blotto so all go on week long binges. Years ago 21 was the milestone but it must have changed over the years.

Happy Birthday. I also bought Fallout 3 but it has been an underwhelming experience so far.

Enjoy MW2, that game is going to be an absolute giant!

Hope you had a good birthday. You're young enough to still enjoy them! ;-)

Sorry I missed this before. Happy belated birthday! I understand the feeling. I'll be cramming for step 1 of my medical boards on my birthday this year.
