System War: Best Bang for your Buck

I keep getting into arguments with my friends on the Xbox 360 vs the PS3, this crap's never going to end lol. Good fun I guess. The latest argument was what was best for your money... I did minor research, here it is.

PS3 - 60GB model. - $499.99

Xbox 360 - Elite model - $449.99

Price difference: $50 to the Xbox 360

Main difference between the two is a Hi-definition capable drive. The PS3 has a Blu-Ray drive, the Xbox 360 has... nothing. So lets fix that.

PS3 - 60GB model - $499.99

Xbox 360 - Elite model + HD-DVD Drive - $629.98

Price difference: $140.99 to the PS3

Another difference between these two Next-Generation concoles is integrated Wifi. So lets add that on as well.

PS3 - 60GB model - $499.99

Xbox 360 - Elite model + HD-DVD Drive + Wireless Network Adapter - $729.97

Price difference - $229.98 to the PS3

Another difference is the internal hard-drive. The Xbox Elite has the PS3 beat on all fronts here, it comes with a 120GB HDD to the PS3s 60GB. BUT! This can be fixed by the PS3s easy HDD replacement process. So lets add a Western Digital 120GB drive.

PS3 - 60GB model + WD 120GB drive - $569.98

Xbox 360 Elite model + HD-DVD Drive + Wireless Network Adapter - $729.97

Price difference - $159.99 to the PS3

I could go into the whole online thing as well, adding on the price of Xbox live for a whole year, which would total $49.99, but with the Elite model, you get Xbox Live Silver service FREE, plus 30 days of Gold Service FREE. I'm honestly not sure what that would total in the end. But the PS3's online service is FREE, it may suck compared to the Xbox 360's, but its free, which might be why it sucks lol. The Xbox 360 spanks the PS3 when you compare games out, and the community.

For the Price to make the Xbox 360 level with the PS3 might sway people to get a PS3, in the end its all up to personal taste. A lot of people don't think about what you get with the PS3, like I've said before, its too early to tell, the PS3 is still considered new, so time will tell. In the end, its the gamers that benefit from this!

Nice post man...but did you actually know that the ps3's blu-ray player outputs at only 576p which is around half full hd (a normal blu-ray player outputs at 1080p) and you dont have to buy a wireless adapter for the 360 (ethernet cable, or it comes with one) and the games the 360 plays are basically hd-dvd, which although is 20gb less then blu-ray and the ps3's pad has got no rumble (although they are going to make one you will have to pay extra) and (lol) the 360 elite comes with hdmi cable, for the ps3 you have to buy seperately which is a rip-off just for a cable and the ps3 is a bit beefier than the 360.... so mate actually proper make sure you know what you are talking about. Nice research though serouisly.

Yeah there was a lot of grey area I had to left open. My PS3 actually came with an HDMI cable. Some of the few first models released here actually came with them.

Dude, Who told you that about the 576P? thats the resolution at which DVDs are played and all Blu Ray Movies play at 720P and 1080P(if your TV supports it) EVEN ON THE PS3!

The games on which 360 come are Dual Layer DvDs with a capacity of ~8.7 GB.

@ Reetesh, yeah thats what I thought. Doesn't the PS3 upscale DVDs as well? In the end though, to make the X360 level with the PS3 in terms of "hardware", it will cost out the butt!

@Reetesh, No dvds play at highest 480p if not 480i also the ps3 might get an upgrade to play the ps3's blu-ray player to full hd. For now the !!!PS3'S!!! blu-ray player only plays at 576p or 720p. why do you think they would give you a blu-ray player for so cheap..lol .
