With the introduction of Firmware 2.40/2.41, PS3 users are now blessed with In-Game XMB as well as the much sought after trophies. Sony has made a real push on it's competition but they are far from on-par. They have a chance right now and in the future to take unheard of PSN Downloads and turn them into money makers.

I for one had not heard too much about PSN Downloadable games, frankly at the time I didn't care. After watching Eric show off 2.40 FW and seeing him play Pixel Junk Monsters really opened my eyes. He talked about games that support trophies and how they would have a leveling system. WOW A LEVELING SYSTEM? That's something definitely to OCD about, gamers going out to pick up games just so they could unlock trophies, sounds excellent.

So where does this come into play? I had never heard of Super Stardust HD till 2.40 but ever since that fateful day I am hooked. Super Stardust HD became the *first* game to have trophies, and I can garuantee that on the day of 2.40 the sales for Super Starddust HD shot up, I know because I was one of the ones to buy it. The game had already been out for a while but with the enticement of trophies people went nuts and bought it up.

So what does this tell us? If Sony attaches trophies to poor selling PSN games it will surely boost its sales. All the obsessive levelers will go out and pay the $10 for the crappy PSN game just to get the trophies.

Come on guys, it's not about the games, it's about the PSN level, it's about bragging rights, it's about e-go, it's about the ability to go "Haha I'm one level higher than you noob".
