It's that time of the year again. Time for me to really get into new shows only to see them get cut from the schedule a mere 3 episodes into their run.

This year's cuts are starting early with Smith and Kidnapped getting the axe. Kidnapped is atleast allowed to finish its 13 episode order and the producers say they have a contigency plan that will wrap the show up in those 13 episodes. Thats a semi-relief.

Smith, however, did not suffer the same fate. They got worse. The show is no longer going to be aired, after only 3 episodes. This never makes any sense to me, 3 episodes is barely enough time to develop a following. It also doesn't help that its on the same night as Nip/Tuck and Boston Legal. Two shows in their 4th and 3rd seasons, respectively, that already have developed their followings.

Smith was given no chance. I don't remember ever seeing that many advertisements for it. Its a 10pm show, not exactly the timeslot to have a new show be easily discovered in without advertising it strongly.

The cast was pretty damn good too. Ray Liotta was superb and every member of his team was entertaining. This show is now dead, but I cant say I'm suprised.

Thief and Heist didn't do very well last year, I guess no one likes shows about robberies and heists anymore.

Bring on the next CSI reincarnation, or another hospital drama. Unoriginal, but atleast they get ratings.
