In my country, there are many people I consider famous for being famous. They typically have no brains, very little common sense, and a lot of money they earned by doing practically nothing. Boy, if it's really this easy, lets marry a footballer/be on Big Brother. I'm sure that would be such a thrilling life. I do feel sorry for Jade Goody, as she is dying, but can anyone tell me what she's got out of life? If anything, she was a wake-up call to me that I might die young, but I want to do something with my life before that might happen.
There are a few others, Victoria Beckham, Cheryl Cole, who were both in a girl band for a time and married a footballer. Big whoop, I couldn't care less. However, it seems like I have to care, because England seems to have a national obssession with them. Every time I open a magazine, there is a picture of one of them. Another thing I don't like is the sheer amount of money they get paid, in comparison to people in jobs like Health Care or Teaching.
On University Challenge, Gail Trimble lead her team from Corpus Christi, Oxford to victory, herself scoring two-thirds of the points. The public, however, has labelled her "snob", "stuck-up" and "snotty b!tch" Why is it that braindead young women like those above are lauded as heroines, whereas whenever a women displays a tiny amount of intelligence, she is ridiculed? Some say it was because she is a woman - the male contestants on that show can be just as clever, but don't get nearly that same amount of bad press. Others think its because she's so intelligent, people are intimidated. What kind of world do we live in?
