Goths are much different from emo kids.
Goths wear dark clothing because we accept our inner darkness, we
listen to good-sounding and poetic music that is primarily Industrial
such as Nine Inch Nails and, yes, Marilyn Manson and we also wear the
makeup because it goes against conformist thoughts of guys wearing
makeup is unacceptable in society. Emo queers wear tight jeans and
shirts, wear makeup because it (I quote my friend who is infact emo and
I make fun of him on a daily basis) "shows the inner beauty that I
really have, so the world could see me on the outside as I feel on the
outside...beautiful." and when I first heard him say that, I thought he
was seriously gay. But he has a girlfriend, but emo people only get the ladies because it's "the cool thing to be" now.
That's what I hate about them the most is that by being little bi*ches
and whining for attention and looking like a cross-dressing homo, they
are seen as "cool" in today's society.

Gothic has just become a
fashion, and not a state of mind as it started to become in the early
80's. Which also pisses me off because being Gothic isn't just
"Dressing in all black with 20 piercings, tall boots, pale skin, dark
makeup, and Marilyn Manson on your iPod." it's a belief of being
non-conformist, accepting the inner darkness that all humans possess,
and being poetic and artistic.

As for the whole thing of
suicide, Goths are not bent on suicide and if you think so you are
freaking retarded. Many Gothic people I know, myself included, want to
live because they know they have a purpose in life but they just don't
know what it is so they stick to what they believe and maybe one day,
their purpose will reveal itself. What point is there accepting that on
the inside you are a dark person and then go ahead and bring that
darkness to the surface, all to just kill yourself. It's not logical
and it's completely freaking stupid. Emo people do their
attention-seeking suicide crap just to make people feel sorry for them
and they cut their wrists because they developed mental problems from
forcing themselves to believe that the only way of relieving emotional
pain is by causing physical pain. Which also, isn't logical and
completely frigging stupid.

Anyone who says Goths and emos are the same thing need to have their bowels torn from their torsos and strewn into a burning pit before having their heads smashed in.

I'm not insulting Goth's here (at least, I'm not intending to so don't bother sending me hate mail), but by dressing like a stereotypical goth, wouldn't you be conforming to gothic stereotypical behaviour. if everybosy tries not to conform, then isn't trying not to conform, in a sense, conforming to how you're expected to act; expected to act different than the society?

it was an interesting point that one of my friends made. He said that he'd like to see an original goth. one who dresses completely different and acts berserk. THAT would be different.

Like I said, don't flame me just wondering

If emo's didn't exist there would be little confussion today. Goth would be pure and true to it's roots. But as it stands today, well lets just say the well's be tainted.

You know Inu-yasha16 makes a great point. So in fact it could be possible that you are the conformist. Therefore us who just live life in our own way, wear what we want and not just to nonconform, and do as we please because that is what makes us content may actually be the only true non-conformists of the world. Also if you are doing something to non-conform and show society that you are rebellious to the norm is that not in fact attention seeking? Just wondering?

Whether they like it or not, we all conform in our own way. Society is vast and everything has already been done. Are you thinking about something right now? well, guess what; so did 3000 people before you. By being human, we are different in many ways, but in more ways we are the same. By not conforming, we conform. By doing what we're told, we conform. So really, everybody conforms. And what's so bad about that either. I mean, today's norm, I admit, sucks. but if everybody was nice and peaceful, why not conform? At a time like that, somebody who is different would upset the balance, bringing about terrorism and hate crimes. Adolf H!tler was non-conformist, and look what happened there. The thing is sometimes its better to conform.

Who was it that decided that conforming is a bad thing anyways? Who said "lets be drastically different"? And really, why do you do it? did somebody tell you too? Did you see somebody -someone you admire-do it?was it a suggestion? Do your friends do it?

If you look back, I'm sure you'll find that somebody GAVE you the idea and that you didn't do it on your own. That's the way I see it really...I could be wrong though.

But one thing, if the norm ever becomes peace and pleasant behaviour, I hope you do conform. We need to end the chaos of war and hatred towards each other. its these little differences that cause these all-out wars from as small as a neighbourly dispute, to an all-out war between two countries.

Personally, I don't conform and I don't try to be different either. I do what I feel like and what I believe is right for me; end of story. Whether the action conforms or is drastically different to a point where everybody stares at me for a week, I'll do it anyways.

Stereotypes suck; and people who don't know the difference are stupid. Otherwise what makes you a "stereotype" could be debated, but what's the point? Just live your freakin' life.

Why do you call yourself a goth? I'm not here to patronize you, I don't really care how you act, but why do you call yourself a goth? Why can't you just be someone who wears dark cloths, is very "poetic and artistic", and who's very independent minded? Why do you have to label yourself? It only creates boundaries. All I'm saying is that you can retain your beliefs and ideals without having to associate or view yourself with a certain group of individuals.

i agree with you. as a hardcore goth i hate it when people tell me to be normal. i may look pretty crazy at times with my trenchcoat, fishnet sleeves, and white face makeup but talk to me about games and you'll see i am no differant then most people on this site.

I agree, Emos are like stealing away from true gothic people and then people see them and are like, oh there cool, emo people really anger me and I do NOT like them, its almost like a fad and I want it to stop

Im tired of boring society that thinks doing everything there told without thinking is good. Where slowing been treated like animals by governments because we dont think for are selves.

I support goths because the reject the very fabric of society that tries to assimilate everyone into lets follow the herd mentallity. hey if 100,000 people do it then its ok.

Non-Comformity is good despite what society tells you. Follow your opinion and your passions dont let society drag you down into mediocrasy.
