Ok, so I decided that I was gonna give this one blog.

I got Call of Duty: World at War today, and so far, I'm like 3/4 of the way through it. This is my first World War II game. All my other shooters are modern, futuristic or set at any time after the second world war.

As I'm playing it, I'm thinking it's a good game. Good graphics. Good sound. Good gameplay. But at the same time... I'm feeling guilty. I don't know if it's... Right to market something based on a real event as a game and enjoy it. I know it sounds like something an old person would say... But I'm serious. I'm just feeling a bit of guilt playing it. Like I shouldn't be enjoying it.

Just wondering if any of you understand what I mean. Leave your comments if you want

I understand how you feel, but if it bothers you switch back to COD4 or something. It does remind me of those times, but you know that the war is over and that your not actually killing real people. Think of it as a simulation.

No matter what you do in the game, it doesn't affect people in the real world dude. The war happened, its done; nothing you can do now but learn about it.

Hm, I don't really have a problem with that, at least not in the way you word it. I mean, movies like Saving Private Ryan are also based on WW2, made to bring in hard cash and stuff like CoD4 is reflecting upon the war in Iraq. So, having game around the WW2 scenario doesn't really bother me (although from a gameplay perspective, I simply don't like those weapons).

Now, if we're talking about how the game makes one realize the tragedies of war and feeling bad about it, I think that's perfectly legitimate and probably desired by Treyarch. It's a great achievement when a game is fun but at the same time makes you think, while not being overly preachy.

I've finished it now. It was a good game. But it dwelled too much on the glory of war. There's no glory in war. It's just paid killing. At least in the credits it does say that it's dedicated to those who lost their lives in WWII
