Death penalty: Yes or No?

I wanted to write about this, it's not a blog you'll enjoy but I've thought about this for some time, now.

Problem: Let's say someone murdered a person, and the question is: should death penalty be applied to the murderer?

My answer: No!

1st. We are humans, which means we are racional animals, which implies that we think, we build theories before taking an action. If you look to the irracional animals, they act based on their instinct leaving the thoughts away!

Considering that fact when you kill a murderer you are acting like an irracional animal: it's far more easier to kill ''the problem'' than to face it. Sure you can tell me that the killer is a waste to society and it'll only make expenses to the state, when he should be dead. I don't believe that. Everyone has the right to a seconde chance and we might learn from it, he's not a lost cause!

Of course, if I belonged to the family or loved the victim i would feel revolted and angry and most likely I'd like to see the murderer dead. But that's what I'm trying to change and prevent, if something like that happened to me I'd like to think as clearly as I do now.

It's not your/my power to decide who dies and who lives (it's not God's either since i don't believe in it).

I just can't understand how you criticize a murderer and then end up doing the same thing he did: killing! You're just like him!

I could continue talking about this, but my point is if we are humans (racional animals) we don't kill to wipe a problem, we talk and act to solve it.

In a final note: I'm glad my country doesn't allow death penalty (don't worry I won't kill someone ). Oh and sorry about my english but I'd love to hear what you think and if you agree.
