it is indeed an awesome game and one of my favourite games if not m favourite game for the ps2. I recommend you get the 2nd one as it is just as awesome once you are done with GoW and the harder difficulties are a challenge if you are up for it especially God Mode in GoW. Frustration city!

Yes, I was given God Of War II for mother's day, that's why I picked up the first one. I figured if I started with the 2nd one it would be like watching a movie from the middle, I hate that. Im very glad I picked it up, it's a great game!
