Ahh, mashed potatos & gravy, my favorite. It's something I went without for 29 years of bachelorhood. What? Me, peel potatos, boil them, add an un-known amount of milk and then mash them (with what?), just wasn't going to happen. Of course there were restaurants that had it, but some were "instant potatos" (yuk), and the places that had "real potatos" got kinda yucky if they sat too long. But, alas, I got married last summer! Now I could have "mashed potatos & gravy" every night! Right? Wrong! It started out that way at first with Bear asking me what kind of potato I wanted. Then, I guess, after hearing "mashed potatos and gravy" every single time, she grew weary. Seems that Bear likes something called "variety". So now, I get "mashed potatos and gravy" once in awhile, along with fried potatos and onions, scalloped potatoes, and potato casserole. Am I complaining? Heck no. I'm so gratefully to have Bear here cooking for me everyday that I'll take what I get. And it's usually pretty good. I guess I'm a lucky guy, even though I still don't get my "mashed potatos and gravy" every night....lol.

"It's still a good world"
Alot of people these days think that our great America and the rest of the world is "going to pot". Today's headlines and tv news stories will be the same: "man chops off wife's arms, baby abducted, terrosit bombing kills 10, etc. It's enough, at times, to make us ashamed before God of the kind of world we are living in. But let's look at this with open eyes. Now how many stories have you read lately that read "Neighbor helps 85 year old lady with assisted living", "good samaritan saves life", "people volunteering their time each day helps millions", etc.? For some reason, newspapers and tv news seem to think that the more sadistic the crime, the more horrible acts of the day are what people want to read. I think they are wrong. Perhaps they just want to sell more newspapers? Don't worry my friends, there's plenty of good going on in the world each and every day. You may not read about it in the paper or see it on tv, but the vast majority of people on this earth are good people. And they are doing good things. I see it this way in my mind: Everytime someone prays to God, or does a good deed, it shows as a sparkle of light on the earth. And when God looks down on the earth from Heaven above, He is seeing millions of sparkling bright lights that tell Him that His world is still full of people that believe in Him and are doing good deeds. So, don't be discouraged by the daily negative attacks on our minds that we see on tv and in the papers. It's still a good world, and it's filled with good, decent people.

"Why?"
You know how little kids are always asking us "why?". And how we always answer "Because, that's why!". Well, now that I've grown much older, I have my own "why?" list, and there's nobody to answer the questions for me...unless a member who reads this decides to write and answer for me. Maybe I'll get lucky (haven't yet....lol).
WHY is it that the FIRST guy in line in a long line of cars waiting for the light to turn green, is the LAST one to see it change?
WHY is it that the people in Government in charge of making important decisions, are always dumber than us?
WHY do 4,000 hour expensive light bulbs burn-out in the same amount of time as the cheap ones?
WHY does Walmart have 23 check-out lines, and on a busy day, only have 5 open?
WHY is it that only doctors, lawyers, and other professional people always seem to win the lottery?
WHY does every single baseball team, regardless of their budget, think they'll win the pennant on opening day?
WHY do Beach Patrol Officers driving on the beach in Daytona have to tote guns with them? I mean, everyone on the beach is half-naked, and have no pockets to carry weapons.
Why am I asking all these questions? Beats me, because I have a feeling that there are "no answers"....lol.
