GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con

Hi well as some of you already know I am new to gamespot, just created my profile 3 days ago, and now it seems like everyone is leaving the site. I just dont get it, I hear it has something to do with someone getting fired but I honestly dont understand the whole rush to leave the site because of this.

Well I hope some of the new people I met are going to stay, and that there will still be a good amount of people who will still be on gamespot. If anyone can explain to me why everyones so angry it would be much appreciated thanks

Jen

Basically the details of it are in my blog before last (not trying to plug, just trying to be helpful) but one of the sites most beloved editors, Jeff Gerstmann has been fired by CNET (the company who own Gamespot). For many Jeff was really the face of Gamespot and you'd haved to of seen him to understand why he was so great but the relationship between many Gamespot users and Gamespot has been a tentative one at that and now Gerstmann has been fired that's been the last straw for many users who have now decided to leave the site. Don't worry too much about the leavers, it will be much better once the whole situation has calmed down a little.

I agree, things will settle down once people have got over the shock. The way Jeff was fired was totally wrong, and this is why alot of people are very angry and overreacting by leaving.btw,I'm not going anywhere,I have too many friends here.

I was upset about what happened to Jeff, but I am not leaving the gamespot community. The only thing is that now you cannot really rely on the reviews here since CNET showed that they won't support the gamespot staff if moeny is involved. Meaning that the money backing CNET could influence the reviews, we will never know. The only thing I will do is cancel my total access account.

It was terrible news about Jeff but nothing like that would make me gamespot

I think people are just overreacting. I don't come to this site solely for its reviews. I take all of them with a grain of salt and get my information from a variety of sources. No disrespect intended to the sainted Mr. Gerstmann but he was not all that beloved by me. I was frequently at odds with his reviews in my 2+ years on the site and that's only gotten worse recently. He appeared to be either over or underrating everything. He was probably fired for a number of reasons--many of which we will never know. I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Jeff was bassically Gamespot. He was the one we all looked up to, he was the reason he came to gamespot and the reason we loved it. The reason he was fired just makes me sick. But don't worry i'm not leaving
