Got Dawn of War 2 today (at last!), and aside from still wondering at a game that needs two separate online accounts to run (wait... wait... GTA4 had that too... ) I'm finding it to be great fun - the campaign is even more enjoyable, and chaotic, than the multiplayer was in the beta.
Which brings me to my complaint - isn't the purpose of a beta to fix bugs and errors before a game comes out? Normally I'm one of those people who barely even notices the occasional crash, but when the most infamous error of the beta (the 183 error, aka "out of memory" error) is still apparently present in full, every-second-bloody-mission force in the retailed and patched release, I've got to wonder... I personally see no reason why I should have to turn down settings because of Relic's bad coding (GASP! *kowtows towards the creators of HW, DoW1 and CoH*).
Asides from that, it's great fun: pretty if not completely mind blowing graphics, frantic action, a 40k-ish storyline, and even a few old faces. Asides from a missing faction or two (Expansions, yes?
) there's not all that much missing from the gameplay. I have to admit it captures the feel of the 40k universe very well.
Overall, I like it.
Yeah that just about sums up Mirror's Edge ![]()
Just got it today and it's AWESOME so far. Except for the fact that it turned into a slideshow 10 minutes after I started playing. Guess this is the "PhysX fix" patch EADM wanted me to DL... but since the setup bugged out on me I'm dling it from GS as we speak. Strangely enough I still seem to be capable of playing a slideshow pretty well like back in my TNT2 days...
But still. AWESOME. Annoyingly difficult to see where the hell you're supposed to go at times - but still AWESOME.
Yes I like saying AWESOME a lot. Saying it is AWESOME
So is Mirror's Edge. Get it.
I have a feeling tha working with my new technician partnern is gonna be a bit difficult... he's the first person I know of who can make a PSU blow by mere proximity :/
This happened while doing stocktaking - not even touching the PC, just writing down it's serial number - next thing I know I hear a bang and I look up to see him sitting on the floor with a "WTF" expression on his face. The smell of burnt plastic soon followed >_>
*Sigh*
