Since I have been a member on Xbox Live for roughly a month now, I've noticed a few things about the gamerscores and achievements. It becomes addicting and almost obsessive to a certain point that you strive to play on there for only the reason of completing all the 1000 points for each game you own and to dwindle that opponent you see in the game lobby with a higher score than his own.
For quite some time now I've been working on F.E.A.R. Quite honestly I have become very determined to unlock every single achievement available for this game. I've become so determined on this game that I haven't even touched three new games that I have gotten in the past few weeks, (yes they are still in the wrapper with the price tag on them). What is it about these achievements that actually makes them more interesting to unlock and achieve than the actual game itself sometimes? It's pretty fascinating and interesting as I've been playing more games on Xbox Live over time right now.
I'm not trying to bash the gamer points in any kind of way, but almost to a degree, doesnt it seem to take the shine and enjoyment away from the games designs, the graphics, the beauty of the 360's hardware at work and take the spotlight shine and put it on the competitiveness of the achieving the most points that you can over the next guy on xbox Live? Don't get me wrong, this doesn't deter me from getting on Live almost every single day or whatever chance I get, I've almost completely ignored the game FEAR and concentrated on just the achievements.
As a postive view of that however, it does help increase and keep the longevity of the replay value of the 360 games does it not?
So I've been a month late on doing my monthly reviews for cd's that I recently have purchased and have taken a great liking towards.
Album of the month for April 07:
Edgewater: South of Sideways.
Edgewater is a great rock/alternative type of band. Mixing in a little both of both genres, they have an awesome sound that really sticks in your head, especially when you've listened to the album a few times over. Great singles on this album so far. The lyrical creativity by Edgewater is very good. Most songs you can relate to or understand what they're talking about within the song. This band is not too hard at all and not soft either at the same time. Great guitar riffs especially in the song, Science of It All and Eyes Wired Shut. Great mix of guitars and bass to really make the song smooth and flow great together.
In a way it's bad to say that bands can sound similar to others which in turn makes you think that they have no originality.Don't get me wrong, this band has plenty of talent and originality. They have some similar sounds of bands like BreakingBenjamin, Creed, Fuel, Godsmack. Top 5 singles I recommend listening to off this album are as follows:
- Eyes Wired Shut
- Science of It All
- Inhale
- Sweet Suffocation
- Tres Quatros
Overall a very good band with lots of potential. Great listening to while in the car on the way to work or with friends, you won't be disappointed.
Ok so your on Xbox Live in a Execution game. Who are you? Locust or COG?
Take your pick.
