Best slimes ever.

I have many, many slimes in my collection... but some of them have stories. The angel slime on the left was given to me by Jeff shortly after I started here. I saw it in his office, squealed and picked it up, and he offered it up for adoption. I think it was to get the crazy person out of his sight. It's sat on my monitor ever since.

The fuzzy slime on the right, he dropped off on my desk earlier this week. It's soft. I hugged it a lot today.

I don't blame you

Eventhough I only met him once, I just feel depressed about the whole debacle

I'm very sorry for your loss Bethany. I can't begin to imagine how hard this must be for you and the rest of the GS staff. Earlier when reading Carrie's blog and seeing a picture of her and Jeff nearly made me cry, and seeing the happy expressions on the faces of those slimes coupled with your heartfelt post... well, I nearly came to tears once again.

My best wishes.

That's heartbreaking.

What about the piece of incompetent slime in management? What's his story?
Posted Nov 30, 2007 6:58 pm PT
There are to many sad story's on GS at the moment. But this story makes me all warm and fuzzy.

Jobs will come and go, but friendship last forever

God I still cant believe this is happening...Jeff really didn't deserve this. I can't believe this is happening over a game like KANE AND LYNCH though
Posted Nov 30, 2007 7:02 pm PT
Nice story there Shame how it's ended though
Posted Nov 30, 2007 7:07 pm PT
I like your slimes ...
Posted Nov 30, 2007 7:08 pm PT
I'm sure the memories they foster are invaluable.
Posted Nov 30, 2007 7:23 pm PT
Jeff absolutely did not deserve this... I can feel the heart of Gamespot being ripped out of it's chest right now...
Posted Nov 30, 2007 7:32 pm PT
Oh wow how the mighty have fallen, but on a more serious note I hope every one on the editorial team the best and hope they feel better after the proverbial heart of gamespot was ripped out
Posted Nov 30, 2007 7:48 pm PT
i don't know if I can take reading anymore of these blogs *chokes back tears*

Wow Bethany... you have brought me nearly to the point of tears. My throat is choked up and I feel shivers going up and down my body. I, I have no idea how you must be feeling right now. I wish I could give each and every one of you gamespot editors a big hug.

Wow, reading this makes me even sadder. I think I need something to hug.
Posted Nov 30, 2007 8:32 pm PT
Gamespot has gone to hell through the past few years, we're just hanging on.
Posted Nov 30, 2007 8:52 pm PT
Hard to say good bye I guess. Even harder when going away like this. Cnet sucks.
Posted Nov 30, 2007 8:56 pm PT
Jeff was a pillar of the site. It sucks to see you and the rest of the staff feeling the pain of him no longer being in the building.
Posted Nov 30, 2007 9:20 pm PT
man, that made me shed a few tears. Man....
Posted Nov 30, 2007 9:43 pm PT
Wow that was truly emotive, we're all here for you and the rest of the Gamespot staff. Reading most of the blogs from the GS staff has really been a touching experience for me. Every one of them has been so emotive that i really cant sympathise enough with what you all must be going through.

Jeff Gerstmann was a pillar of Gamespot, infact he was the avatar of Gamespot to many people. Long live the legend!
Posted Nov 30, 2007 9:51 pm PT
My apologies for your loss.
Posted Nov 30, 2007 9:56 pm PT
That is so sad. Man... he did not deserve this.

Another fitting tribute to the man himself
Posted Dec 1, 2007 1:30 am PT
Let's see if any of the suits responsible for this receive such a tribute when their tenure comes to an end.
Posted Dec 1, 2007 1:48 am PT
Hang in there, Bethany. Jeff will be fine i'm sure. With support like this how could he not!?

Posted Dec 1, 2007 4:02 am PT
Very touching, Bethany. Tis a sad time, that's for sure. And I hope Jeff is reading all this so that he knows how much people are behind him.
Posted Dec 1, 2007 4:10 am PT
I want the big blue 1! XD

but seriously, this whole debacle seems to have hit everyone at GS pretty hard, especially those that knew Jeff fairly well like the staff members..heck, even those that didn't agree with Jeff's reviews, etc. are still saddened by this...this is a whole new low for CNET, and is going to cause alot of damage to GS no matter how things go now...i might not have really liked Jeff, but he didn't deserve to be fired, especially not under such ridiculous circumstances...and i'm pretty sure everyone here agrees on that..i'm sure he'll be fine in the end though..
Posted Dec 1, 2007 5:18 am PT
Its a hard time lately, must be extra tough in the actual office. I hope it gets easier for everybody there sooner rather than later.
Posted Dec 1, 2007 5:30 am PT
What's saddest is that you all have to speak in analogies - you aren't allowed to speak your minds properly - it makes it all the more touching.
Posted Dec 1, 2007 5:31 am PT
that was the most saddening post abt this i ever heard... hang in there!
Posted Dec 1, 2007 5:45 am PT
That's pretty sad...
Posted Dec 1, 2007 6:05 am PT
