Not more than 2 weeks ago I was playing Madden and my PS3 just shut off. I saw the flashing red light which supposedly indicates overheating. I left it alone for hours and did some reading. When I tried to turn it back on again, the load up screen came on, then it shut off again. THAT was it! It never turned on again, nor could I eject the disc.
Being that I purchased an extended warranty from Target (whom I made the purchase from on Launchday '06), I decided to deal with them in possibly getting it fixed, like they claimed they can do. I still spoke to some Sony reps regarding the issue and I would still have the option to get it fixed through them should it be fixed and breaks down in the future. Problem is, they insist the mother board is most likely damaged and Asurion (the company Target is dealing with in respect to the extended warranty and repair) can't fix it. So this means Target most likely will replace it.
I DON'T WANT THE SLIM!!!!![]()
I've had girls tell me the "fat" looked sexy! NO LIE! In any case, I'll miss the 4 USB ports and most importantly, the backwards compatibility. Well, it'll be a few days before i find out what's the verdict with this issue. I'll keep you all posted.....

lol. Please don't worry. I don't know what is the cause of all this, really. Its a tough choice because I can request that they return the console to me should they fail in repairing it and just pay Sony to fix whatever the problem is. So they've said. But I've been doing a lot of reading from other people and the suspected culprit of this failure is this new 3.0 and 3.01 firmware updates. I just wish it never stopped working.
And yes, I do prefer the original over the new one. It just looks..... weird. Not to mention the lack of backward compatibility SUCKS!!! grrrrr

Now I worriedly look over to my Playstation 3 as I write this! It is the original that came as a bundle with minna-no-golf 5. It has the PS2 & PS1 backward compatibility, the 4 USB ports, and memory-card ports too ... don't make me worry so!
