In our house is an Xbox 360, yet I don't find myself playing it at all, only when my brother pesters me to.

Could it be that I'm getting older and gaming doesn't appeal to me anymore? Not sure, I certainly still anticipate the release of games, but when it comes to actually playing them then it seems as though something is missing...

A good sign for me as to whether a game is good, is that when I close my eyes, I still see the game, but I just don't get that anymore, apart from recently playing Guitar Hero 3. It's as though games have ditched their souls for sexy graphics, much like movies have done, where they just throw a couple of big explosions together and skimp on the storyline.

This current generation of gaming has also disappointed me, I was expecting longer games, but for developers these days, they spend all their time on the online aspect of the game. Now, don't get me wrong, online gaming is popular these days, but if I spend £30-40 on a game, I expect the main campaign of the game to be fully loaded and to last longer than the last generation of gaming.

I just hope that GTA IV lives up to the hype..

Definitely see what you are saying Benco. As gaming starts to generate more and more money it's only natural that it will generate more and more shallow titles (for casual gamers). The Movie industry went that way, music industry did and now gaming is. I'm just thankful that the industry we love has some great creative minds that do create games worth worshipping. They also do delve into online mode far too much, COD had a great campaign but it was so damn short, where as its online functions were probably the highlight of that title, and online mode shouldn't be the highlight of any game in my opinion unless it is a straight forward online based game.

I guess you're right about the money side of things. It's just disappointing that casual gamers are being thought of before us 'hardcore' gamers.

I found myself playing games on the 360 just because someone said it was AAA and it was "Unreal Engine" etc etc. Thats when i got fed up and chucked it all in for the PS3.
Not that i'm going to toot the ol' Sony horn but as a fun little box that plays nice games in the corner its not at all bad.
For my hardcore gaming habbits i've gone back to PC. Its worth its weight in gold in my opinion. You get so many good, honest games with the real intention on gameplay as well as the big hitting graphical kings like Crysis or COD4.
Massive shame if Max Payne doesn't come to PC, I don't know if you remember the Equilibrium mod. Best mod ever!!!

Although the 'sexy' graphics comment brings me to a point, games can't be made with a decent longevity anymore due to the money and time they take to make. So I think most dev's prefer to just create short 'sexy' games with a short campaign, rather than a long game with so-so graphics and standard game-play.

Yeah, I've found myself going back to the PC as well hongkingkong, just seems to be more 'fun' with the added benefit that you can MOD the games to get it the way you want it to.

I've never played Max Payne on the PC, I did look at the Equilibrium mod though, looked really cool.

On the subject of that, fingers crossed for a Max Payne 3.

I feel just the same way man. I'm reading news, waiting for games but then it actually comes to playing games it's just meh. I'm bored.
