Only 4 this time. Final 5 for last. ![]()
#9 - Fool For Love(Season 5, Ep#85). A grand and epic masterpiece, partnered with Angel's episode "Darla", this is also one of the best looking episodes of Buffy ever. A lot of great scenes and images here. Our 4 big bad vamps strolling away from the chaos and fire behind them being tops. It's an incredibly well written and told story, and it's amazing to see how things fit with Angel's episode. You don't have to watch both eps. Each is great all on it's own. Love this one.
#8 - The Body(Season 5, Ep#94). I seem to say the same thing ever single time about this episode, but it fits perfectly. This episode is raw and brutal, and felt like a sucker punch to the stomach. We weren't watching an episode of a favorite TV show. We were EXPERIENCING it. It felt all to real, as if we were there with Buffy and the gang. It may not be a "fun time" episode to watch over and over again, but it's one of the best and most brilliant episodes ever done on the series. The acting was perfect(stupid Emmy's!.), and the writing, well, it was Joss. His decision to exlude music was another masterstroke. A brilliant, but unbelieveably painful, episode.
#7 - Becoming Part 1(Season 2, Ep#33). Buffy could do a two part season finale like no other!. Not only that, but flashbacks were another strong suit. We get to see how Angel became a vampire and required his rather pesky curse. Not only that, but we see pre-slayer Buffy, and it's quite a trip. Her and Cordelia would of gotten along just fine!. An exceptionally brilliant episode giving us more background info into the characters we have come to know and love. From Xander not telling Willow the truth, to the slow motion scene at the end, it was the beginning of another powerful season send off for Buffy.
#6 - Graduation Day Part 1(Season 3, Ep#55). The brilliant season 3 was being capped off by another fantastic Buffy season ender. It was the beginning of the end for Angel and Cordelia on the series, and The Mayor was getting ready for his final ascension. The episode also features one of the best Buffy fights ever. In my opinion, Buffy and Faith's fight in the apartment, and later outside of the apartment, was just phenomenal. Buffy is ready to end it, and we were ready to see how it ends. Dang that WB for postponing the conclusion!.
Just wanted to say sorry for being so slow in getting the next part of the Buffy countdown list going. It's been something like 9 days or so since I posted the last one. That's the longest in between by far!. Lol. Things have come up recently and I haven't gotten back to the list yet. Sorry if I have missed any of your new blogs too.
We only have two more parts of the countdown left. Eps #9 - #1. I will be getting to it in the next few days. What's #1?.
#14 - The Prom(Season 3, Ep#54). Another great season 3 episode. So much to love here. While the idea of someone training hellhounds to attack anyone in formal wear is kinda cheesey, the rest of the episode makes up for it. Angel finally tells Buffy it isn't going to work between them, and Buffy's breakdown and crying scene on her bed with Willow puts a lump in my throat every time I see it!. Elsewhere, the recognition of Buffy among her fellow students was one of the most amazing and satisfying moments of Buffy ever. Love this episode!.
#13 - Surprise(Season 2, Ep#25). It's Buffy's birthday, and as we will soon learn, this particular day of the year will never go well. And so begins a Buffy tradition, as Spike and Drusilla attempt to reassemble The Judge, and Buffy and Angel hit the sheets. Elsewhere, we learn the shocking truth of Jenny Calendar, and Angel wakes up with more than just a bad hangover. "Surprise" is exceptionally great, and it only gets better with the episodes that continue to follow the developments in this one.
#12 - Innocence(Season 2, Ep#26). Where to start?!. Angel is now Angelus and the change is startling. David Boreanaz is brilliant and shows a new side to him for the first time that just blows everyone away. We instantly see what kind of a vampire Angelus is and what he is able to do. And it's frightening. Lots of romantic drama with Cordelia/Xander/Willow/Oz and a great fight between Buffy and Angel follow, and one of the best scenes in this brilliant episode is between Buffy and Giles in his car. Buffy at it's best. It's moments like these that make it hard for me for which is my favorite season. 2 and 3 are always neck and neck.
#11 - Once More With Feeling(Season 6, Ep#107). Not too many people could of pulled this off, but Joss Whedon is not like other people. Not everyone nailed it in the singing department, but that doesn't take away from the overall brilliance of this episode. The demon Sweet may of been awfully handy to set up the musical aspect of the show, but who cares?. The music is great, the lyrics are meaningful and, best of all, this wasn't just some one off gimmick. It addressed ongoing storylines and relationships and moved things forward. Joss Whedon has no musical background or training, and he writes a musical!. Is there anything he can't do?!.
#10 - The Gift(Season 5, Ep#100). The season 5 finale and the WB "Series Finale", is a Buffy classic. From the awesome fight between Buffy and Glory, to Giles shockingly doing what Buffy couldn't, and Buffy's selfless sacrifice, this episode had it all and ended the season, and the show's run on it's home network, with a bang. Season 5 was a great season in my book, and this ended everything in a perfect way. We cheered, we cried, we looked on in stark horror at the very end. Buffy dead?. The final shot of her tombstone was one of the best cliffhangers ever. Great, great episode.
