I recently acquired a 40 gig PS3 and I'm proud to say that the system has lived up to my expectations thus far. The graphics are incredible and the familiar sixaxis controller is light and responsive. I have Assassin's Creed, MGS4, DMC4, Elderscrolls: Oblivion, GTA4, and Call of Duty 4.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is AWESOME! The best game in the series imho. I've heard some people complaining about the long cut-scenes, but I'm enjoying them. The gameplay is incredible, especially the changes they made to the camera, aiming and weapon customization. My favorite game in the series was the original on the Nes. Yeah, I'm old school.

Devil May Cry 4 is a blast I like Nero better than Dante. The Elderscrolls Oblivion is an excellent RPG. Call of Duty 4 is just as good as the critics said it was except for a few annoying design decisions:

1. The Helicopter can and will turn the tide of a pitched battle. It really sucks, especially when none of your teammates has an RPG. I wish you could turn it off in the standard online modes.

2. Hosts being able to quit games at will. I hate this!!! Just when we're making a comeback a cowardly host decides to kill the game early giving the losing side(my side) an L. Why aren't the games held on a separate server?

3. Martyr: Horrible, just horrible. Why do players even use this perk?!!

4. Inability to choose maps in multiplayer. I hate being randomly taken to the same map over and over and over again. I also hate being put in the middle of a game on the losing side.

5. Wetworks and Overgrown. Grenade throwers paradise and sniper heaven.

6. Red dot sights: I used them once and they make aiming way too easy. I prefer to use the guns natural sights, no acog for me sir.

7. Shooting without using your sights makes you too inaccurate and using your sights makes you move too slowly

8. GRENADES!!! I HATE GRENADES!!! They have to be the most abused online weapon in any game!!

I'm disappointed with Assassins Creed and Grand Theft Auto 4.

Assassins Creed is uhm, how can I say this delicately... It's BORING!!! You keep doing the same repetitive actions on each level before you can even get to kill anybody. The fighting system is too easy once you master counter attacks. I stopped playing it after three hours!!! What an overhyped waste of money!!

Grand Theft Auto 4:

1. Biggest disappointment of 2008. May go down as the most overhyped and overrated game in history. Shame on most of the gamesites. Did you guys play the entire game or just the first few hours. It's right there with Halo 3 imho.

2. The story isn't that great and while Niko is cool, he's a go-fer for most of the game.Too many annoying characters. Especially Manny, Roman, Vlad, and Brucie.

3. Rockstar sucked the fun right out of their franchise with nothing fun or interesting to do outside of the main story. Dating, boring minigames, shooting pigeons, watching tv. WTF?!! are they smoking over there!! I thought that this was going to be better than San Andreas!!

4. Driving SUCKS!!! I had to retry some missions several times just because turningat more than 20 mph will make my car SPIN OUT OF CONTROL!!!

5. Does anyone play this online??

6. Scripted missions. The designers took away the freedom of past games and now you are forced to complete most missions in exactly the way they intended you to.

Example: Niko is hired to kill Johnny dipswitch. You drive to the guys house and a cutscene appears in which you tell the guy that you are going to kill him. Brilliant Niko, brilliant!!. Johnny D jumps out the window and takes off on foot. You decide to get in your car and run him down. But by the time you get in and start the engine the guy has escaped. OH NO!! I was supposed to chase him on foot!!! Doh!!!

7. Jacking cars takes too long and there aren't many firearms and weapons to choose from.

8. Radiostations play the same stuff over and over and over again.

I'm done.

The Wii is a system with huge potential for outstanding videogames but in my opinion it hasn't quite lived up to this yet. Not that there haven't been any great games on it. There are a few. Zack and Wiki, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Resident Evil 4, and No More Heroes. But most don't fully utilize the motion sensor controls, making them seem gimicky. I would like to see these get taken advantage of fully. The following is just wishful thinking.

  • The Wii needs a great RPG. Something with the production values and story telling of a Final Fantasy or Mass Effect. The game would have a hands on fully controlled real time battle system. Easy to get into yet deep and engaging. Maybe to cast spells you would have to move the remote in specific patterns. To use a bow and arrows you would aim with the nunchuck and draw and fire with the remote using a realistic motion. No random battles. Co-op gameplay, like that shown in Army of Two would be awesome...
  • Another good FPS. Medal of Honor Heroes 2 was a decent first fps. That games controls were incredible. The next Wii FPS needs to be a vast improvement on and offline over MOHH2. More online maps and modes, better communication and interface, Clan leaderboards, little to no bugs, a great campaign with the ability to play co-op.
  • Some sort of Real time strategy game. The Wii controls are perfect for this genre.
  • A mature-themed sandbox action-adventure game like GTA.
  • A real nba game with great controls and AI. The teams execute plays on offense and defense just like the real pros. No more cpu running down the shot clock and taking stupid shots. A full franchise mode with online play and support for at least ten players per game. Oh and the ability to play with three buddies on the system on and offline.
  • A kicka$$ giant mech game, something with deep customization like Armored Core. It would have destructible environments and you would use the wii-mote to do all kinds of crazy close and long range attacks. You could even lift and throw other mechs and objects around. Once again there would be a co-op mode and an online battle mode with leaderboards and stat tracking.

Just think of the possibilities....

Some people just don't have opinions. Like BaconBurns.
BaconBurns must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could BaconBurns possibly have for not rating a single film?
