I'm still waiting to hear from UWS Hamilton, what do you think the chances are I'm gonna have to wait till May for a decision from them? would be just my luck! hear back from 3 out the 4 within a couple of weeks and then have to wait months for the last one!

I'm still not entirely sure where I'm going to chose to go, Caledonian has most of the stuff I'm after but do very very little in terms of field work, it's almost entriely lab based (when not in lectures that is), UWS Paisley has a lot more in terms of field work (also has the option of a year's paid placement!) but does little in terms of biology, UWS Hamilton has a lot more in terms of biology and also has a 10wk placement in yr 3, but the campus is very small and the facilities aren't as good.

having a placement is quite important to me, I know that jobs are scarce (aint they everywhere?!) so getting your face out there can only be a good thing - also you can learn all you want in a closed environment like a university, but actually applying knowledge in the workplace is something different. Also with the course at Hamilton, it's the first year they're running it, so it'll all be fresh and new, the downside obvs to that is that it'd prob mean quite a few hiccups and us being the guinea pigs to test run the course!

gah! I dunno... wish really I could combin the resources of Caledonian, with the field work of Paisley, with the Biology direction of Hamilton... I really don't think I could hack being in a lab ALL the time, I have always had active jobs, which is why the UWS courses appeal so much.

I'm going to an open session in Paisley on weds next week, will see what sort of feel I get from the Uni and hopefully get some more in-depth course info...
