Yet another installment of my favorite boss battles. As I've been doing this, I've noticed something; games this gen don't seem to have that great of boss fights. Most seem rather generic and don't provide the challenge that I remembered from past gens. To me, the last boss should ALWAYS be the most difficult part of the game. I had to do some digging through my older games to be refreshed by some great fights.

One that I surely would have missed, was from the PS1 game, "The Legend of Dragoon". I'm not even sure how popular this RPG was, but it was my first, as it was also Sony's first attempt into the genre. Despite the reviews for it being poor, I loved this game. I played it when I was about 12 or 13, and although there were many parts of the game that were challenging, the final boss, Melbu Frahma, had me screaming cuss words at my TV. The fight is long, taking about 30+ minutes from what I remember. One thing that I really liked was how the scenery would change as the battle continued. As each scenario would change, so would Frahma. The change is scenery were referred to as "generations" and they projected the outcome of the world is he succeeded. The beginning of the fight started with bright skies, trees, etc. By the end of the fight, you were basically fighting in Hell.

I failed this fight several times, provided it was very difficult. I tried looking for some pictures online, and this was the best I came up with:

My next favorite was in the first game I bought for my PS3, Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I love action/adventure games, but don't seem to play them that often since I only like the Devil May Cry, God of War, and now Ninja Gaiden franchises. It wasn't the final boss in this game that I liked the most, but the main antagonist through the story:

Doku was a good fight because he wasn't huge like all of the other bosses in the game. You really have to rely of Ryu's agility, rather than strength in order to beat him. Even on easy difficulty, Doku will kill you in about 3 or 4 hits, so you have to constantly be rolling away from his attacks. You fight Doku 3 different times throughout the story, each time he will be more difficult.

This next one should not be a surprise to anyone:

Do I really have to justify this?

This will be my final blog about my favorite bosses. I feel like they are kind of boring for you guys to read (which is why I gave pictures ). My question for you guys is this: What is your all time favorite boss battle and why? I'm sure I missed some really good ones, and I'd love to know what you all enjoyed the most.

I'm considering doing another blog series similar to this but it will be "The most annoying things in video games". This could be certain people, certain tasks, etc. I'm not completely sold on the idea, but I feel it would be a more enjoyable read. Let me know what you guys thinks of the idea.

I played Ninja Gaiden's demo a lot. I couldn't come to grips with the combat system but I'll try hard to play or rent NGS2.
I feel like it may have some of the combat I am so hungrily waiting for.
The numchuck boss in the demo was really hard. I only beat him a couple times, if that.
How does NG handle dying? One reason I didn't buy it was because if you died in the demo, that was it, start over.

My favorites?
Ares (GOW)
Minotaur (GOW)
Zeus (GOW2)
Metal Gear REX (LittleBigPlanet) NOT MGS1 (spent about 3 hours on MGS1's REX...)
Laughing Octopus (MGS4)
Kessler (Infamous)
Vergil (DMC3)
Cortex (Crash 3)
Screaming Mantis (MGS4)
Prometheus (GOW2)
Hydra (GOW)
Liquid (MGS4)
Metal Gear RAY (MGS4)
Fatman (MGS2)
All 3 Sisters of Fate (GOW2)
Barbarian (GOW2)
Sephiroth (Kingdom Hearts)
2 Fire/Ice Brothers (DMC3)

I can go on. I liked ALL MGS', GOW's, & DMC's bosses but I picked the best.

@Chaos_Bladez- There are just automatic checkpoints in NGS. You don't have the restart the entire chapter if you die. I think if you die on the nunchuck boss (Murin?) you restart right before the fight with all those black spider ninjas. NGS is a lot harder than GoW. The combat is just as in depth, but speed/agility is more of your key tool rather than strength, like Kratos. It goes for $30 new and like $20 used, I'd definitely recommend it since you're like me and love the GoW and DMC series.

A lot of the bosses you mentioned were going to be in my list but as you mentioned, I only wanted 1 from each game. Ares, The Three Sisters of Fate (especially Atropos), and Zues, were a tough choice. I picked Ares just because he had the most to do with Kratos becoming the God of War.

I still need to play NGS, but holy crap, the final MGS4 boss fight.

Oh hey guys OH MY GAWD THEY'RE GOING TO INJECT EACHOTHER?! THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER. OH MY GAWD OLD SCHOOL LIFE GAUGES YES YES YES!

OK thanks, I wasn't sure if it was all DMC3 like where it meant starting the level over again. That's just harsh.
I would get NGS but given my list of games to play, I don't want to fit that in too.
I definitely get to NGS2 one of these days.
Those wolverine claws he has in NGS2 look badass.

It does feel like a cop out picking bosses from the same series because some games just have good bosses. DMC (NOT 4), GOW, & MGS have bosses that are all awesome. Some devs just get it.

Why the hell doesn't it ever say on my updates that you made a new blog?

Egh... I still don't understand why people like bosses, lol.

Seriously, I just want the story. Bosses are obstacles for me.
