It's almost time for a new era of PSP in September Sony is planning to roll out the new and improved slim PSP with the Daxter pack retailing for $199, it'll include the new ice-silver slim PSP, Daxter, Family Guy: Freakin Sweet Collection, and a 1 gig memory stick.
While at first look the two unit may look the same there are some key differences, internal memory has been increased from 32Mb to 64MB. the slim PSP will be lighter, thinner, and support video out, some switches have been moved, and the Ir port has been removed.
Will all these things drive PSP sales who can say for sure. I know I'm interested in getting a PSP 2000(slim) when it's released and I already have a PSP.
Here's a look at the two different PSP models side by side.

Meh...The only thing that looks different is the speakers have been moved, I don't really care about this new slim since I already have a PSP anyways.

It isn't really fair to call the 1000 the 'fat', seeing as it was, and is the best handheld available, and before the slim came out it was famous for it's thinness, and it is pretty small.

That's true burningChimaera the original psp is pretty small the only reason I used the fat (psp1000) slim (psp2000) was to show the difference between the two models. the new model takes a great hand-held design and made it better with better buttons, improved d-pad, more internal memory, thinner and lighter. Plus most people look at the old model as the phat model while referring to the new model as the slim.
