Yep - Far Cry review is up and I'm preparing for that massive 'thumbs down' from the community.

Such is life.

And yeah my reviews are slowing down a little only because the games I'm playing are quite large and actually rehashing some old favourites like Land of the Dead (nothing feels better than clubbing a zombie - man they deserved to be punished) and Silent Storm (excellent turn-based game that is soo underrated).

So that's one recommendation out of the way and not a good one - let's see how Dues Ex pans out.

27% (some weird a$$) Heiankyo Alien thingy Azghouls.

Well, you get a thumbs UP from me. The review was spot on. I'd only add that the physics need some tweaking, as they don't quite have the 'gravity' of real life physics. They feel off somehow. This is most evident in vehicle scenes, specially if you view them from third-person. Regardless, Far Cry is huge technological achievement, but that's kind of it.

Heya SkidRow18,

Thanks mate! Another one agrees with me. I really thought I'm going to be a very lonely man as the thumbs down was evident with my Tomb Raider I review and Quake. I thought those games like Far Cry was soo overrated as the gameplay just sucks. But that's my opinion anyways.

I checked out your ratings and man we have similar scores like Call of Duty (8.5 - same as mine), Halo (you have it an 8 and I 8.5), FEAR (you gave it an 8, I gave it a 7.8...) and so forth.

So, GTA 4 a 9.5...I will give this a go soon but my hands are tied up with Dues Ex and Diablo II.

Cheers!

i was a newcomer for the GTA series, GTA IV was my first gta game and i decide to get GTA:SA after finishing IV because people said SA was better than IV. After i play GTA:SA, i saw lots of feature missing in IV but as a newcomer, i didnt really care about the past Gta games.

Btw, how do u get to rate games like 7.8, 7.2, 8.7....i only can rate like 7.0, 7.5, 8.0.

Nice review, m8 and a "thumbs up" from me. Far Cry is quite simply the worst game I have ever played. I hated the game with a passion and couldn't be as fair as you were in your review. What completely kills the game for me is the insane level of difficulty. Even with AI balancing and quick save the game is still over the top hard. Even worse it's not the fun kind of hard where you have to use your brain and think of a good strategy - no it's the kind of hard where the rocket shooting mutants spot you a mile away hiding in some bushes and then begin to shoot you with unlimited ammo and even the 1 time out of a 100 where they miss the ground shake so violently that you cannnot target them with a sniper rifle.

I got about 2/3 of the way through the game and then I simply quit. Games are supposed to be fun but Far Cry simply feels like work and some very tedious work that is. Btw I just love your Uwe Boll ref. Yes, playing Far Cry feels exactly like watching a Boll-shiite movie. I don't think you will get a lot of "thumbs down" because you are fair in your review. I recently gave Jade Empire a 7 and Halo a 5 and I haven't received massive flag for that. One guy PM'ed me and said he agreed with my Halo review so that's nice. We have to call 'em as we see them. Keep up the good work.

Yes, thumbs up! Because I can! XD

Punish those zombie freaks! They scare the crap outta me in L4D! No zombie should be that fast!

@SkidRow18

Don't worry mate - ultimately it's my choice playing GTA IV...but I got a feeling I'm gonna like it.

@jepsen1977

Take a look at my Tomb Raider review - I reckon a bunch of fanboys hit that button as literally the next day I have six thumbs down. But yeah, Far Cry for me only saved the day by the pretty graphics. I gave that game a rest at chapter 14 as it was just too repetitive but eventually soldier on and thankfully the last couple of chapters are quite short.

And I'm glad there are people out there who has great tastes in games instead of that 'hey look at that fish swimming...'.

Thumbs up for your review. I can see somewhere around the "fun factor" which I also uses for my reviews. I'm talking about those lines when you said that the player will reload the game more than have fun. That's the same reason why my score on Overdose was so low. I played Far Cry when it was released and I remember about the cheater AI... although I kept saying myself "go play DOOM, you bum. This is not for you.". =)

It seems that the users here liked your review, after all. LoL. Let's wait for the fan boys (if there is any, because I believe they migrated to Crysis...).

@ChristianKiss

Thanks mate.

Those fanboys are around - take a look at another reviewer who scored similar to mine - man he got slammed but then again his review isn't the best.

I wish though that the thumbs down has an option of the reason for your choice like some kind of radio button with say five choices - something simple like that.

I actually agree with that Azghouls about the "thumbs down" part. The way I understand the system you are giving a thumbs up or down to the review and how helpful it was for you and not a thumbs up or down to the game being reviewed. I have read plenty of reviews that are well thought out and where the reviewer goes to great length to describe why he likes or dislikes a game. I may disagree with the final verdict but I still give a thumbs up to that review. On the other hand I can give a thumbs down to a very short review saying "Its da bestest game evar" even if I think the game is fantastic. Perhaps GS should do like Amazon where you can leave comments for a review. That way you can voice your opinion about the review and not just a thumbs up or down thing.
