Julie Delpy and Adam Goldberg are perfectly paired in this comedic take on a French-born photographer bringing her American boyfriend home to meet the family in a move that pushes their relationship to the limits.

The oft exaggerated cultural differences between French and American cultures spark some unique and genuinely funny laughs. Trips to the market, an overly liberal view of sex, overly friendly Frenchman, and opinionated taxi drivers all contribute to what Goldberg called "the most un-romantic trip to Paris ever."

Perhaps the worst part of the movie was the final message, which appeared in only the last three minutes of the movie and basically asserts that at some point in life you will decide that you no longer have the energy for another break-up and that it would be altogether easier to simply settle down and stick it out. Call me crazy, but I would have expected a more romantic ending to a French movie.

Nevertheless, the unique humor is genuinely funny and the interactions between the four main characters (Delpy, Goldberg and Delpy's parents) are a lot of fun to watch.

What a treat! I walked into the theater expecting to see one of the worst movies of all time, but I was delighted to find that the movie was filled with stars who portrayed their roles perfectly, a wonderfully original, comical and surprisingly cohesive story.

The story is an interesting mixture of the Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Titanic, but it all comes together quite well to tell an adorable tale of adventure and love with a perfectly simple yet tear-jerking ending.

The acting was marvelous. Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro were especially fun to watch, but every character shines at one point or another.

I'm still a little confused because it was so perfectly random and unexpected, but it's one of the first movies I've seen in a long time where I haven't noticed or cared about the length. It's a legitimately fun move to watch and well worth seeing.

Order of the Phoenix was a breath of fresh air in the Harry Potter series of movies. Although I am an avid fan of the entire series, I couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed with the past two movies; there was just something missing from them that didn't fully capture the spirit of Harry's world. Although there were a few little things missing from Order of the Phoenix, it felt more complete than the previous two.

The entire cast of young actors are exponentially more comfortable in their roles than in previous films. Amateur acting was always one of the most awkward aspects of the films, but the actors really feel like they've earned their roles on this movie. Although we seemed to lose touch with some familiar characters like Ron and Hagrid in this installment, we were introduced to the ethereal Luna Lovegood and the vile Dolores Umbridge, who are portrayed exactly as I expected them to be. The character of Sirius Black became much more loveable and developed; the introduction to the frizzy-haired Bellatrix Lestrange was a treat; and Ginny is really beginning to demonstrate that she could very well play an important role in the future of the series. The visuals in this movie were spectacular. The wall of educational decrees was a great touch and really illustrated quite well the level of oppression and interference from the Ministry. The Department of Mysteries was quite different than I envisioned, but the sequence was visually impressive (especially in 3D). Seeing Azkaban was a real treat, as well as the vastly improved patronases. The battle between Voldemort and Dumbledore was exceptional; there is an impressive sense of power and a new sense of urgency after seeing what these two characters in particular are capable of. Even though the movie was nearly 2.5 hours, it didn't seem long enough. I would have loved an additional 30 minutes of content that would really tighten the story and bring it closer to the book. All in all, though, I really have very few criticisms:

-The relationship between Sirius and Bellatrix isn't terribly apparent.
-Sirius's mom is left out.
-The fountain doesn't come to life during Voldemort & Dumbledore's fight.
-A better fight scene between the kids and the death eaters.

A job well done for this installment. The actors and production staff should be proud of a job well done. I certainly hope the same crew stays on for the next movie.

Against all odds, Ratatouille shines as one of the year's best movies. It's charming, well-animated, and a lot of fun. There's definitely something in this movie for everyone!

Paris je t'aime is truly a breath of fresh air. Many modern American movies are thick with plot, drama and action just for sake of having a discernable 'wow' factor, but Paris je t'aime is a clever little movie that is really just a combination of short love stories that take place within Paris--ranging anywhere from divorce, to monster love, to love of a child.

It was great to go to a movie and not have to invest so much of myself to it. The stories are so diverse that you really get to experience a wide variety of lives and situations, a few of which are bound to touch you in some way.

If Pirates 3 has one fatal flaw, it's an overly complex plot line that is just too over the top at points. The huge cast of characters was interesting in the first two films when things were happening independently of one another, but when taken in aggregate there is just too much going on to be able to keep track of who is deceiving whom, which is something of a theme in this installment. However, this complex story brings with it a cast of characters who are extremely well developed and convincing in their roles--with the exception of Elizabeth, who should never be made a ‘king’.

Visually speaking, this movie was absolutely stunning. The set designs, costumes and score were just fantastic. Disney really spared no expense when it came to creating a world of Pirates that is truly immersive.

In the end, the movie was extremely well produced, the acting is great, and the story is fun, albeit a little complicated in this instance. The entire franchise has been a lot of fun to watch, even if this installment needed to have a bit of the fat trimmed.

It may not be the very best of the bunch, but Shrek the Third brings us the same loveable characters in another adventure to save Far Far Away, this time from an overzealous and emotionally damaged Prince Charming. The story is fun and enjoyable to watch, but I think this iteration missed the mark with originality--particularly in comparison with the first two. Missing are the creative cultural puns and the age-defying sense of humor that shaped the first two movies. As well, it seems that the audience has become jaded with the ways of ogres, a lifestyle that carried its own brand of humor, particularly in the first movie.

It’s difficult to maintain originality with such an accomplished franchise, but Shrek 3 still hits the mark for being cute, fun, and familiar, even if we now take the earlier creativity for granted.

Your run-of-the-mill, over-hyped and thoroughly underwhelming superhero movie.

This movie was actually painful to watch. I saw it in IMAX, which should enhance the experience, right? Except that it didn't.

The cinematography is so awful that my head was constantly darting from side-to-side to follow the action, which was impossible to discern given that the camera is out of focus on most of the fast action. I guess that's one way to minimize the cost of special effects: blur it to the point where people aren't really sure, but they think something cool might be going on in the background. But don't worry, there isn't.

And don't bother looking for a good story, either. It's not there. What you will find, however, is some sort of physics lab (exclusively staffed by beautiful blondes) in the middle of NYC that makes a regular practice of "de-molecularizing" anything that falls into its trap, thereby creating evil superheroes. Ummm&8230;try again. Wait…nevermind. Just don't.

A thoroughly bizarre story, but thoroughly worth watching. Miyazaki's story lines are always a bit on the odd side, but this atypical approach to writing is what makes his movies so fascinating and captivating.

A bit predictable, yes, but a quality movie overall.

Despite the blatantly obvious political message behind this movie, it's still a fantastic movie when judged by the creative direction alone. The costumes, special effects, cinematography, and score are enough to make this movie well worth watching.
