The middle of September is rapidly shaping up to be among the most exciting weeks of my life, at least as far as epic stories that I have followed for some time being continued in some fashion go. In the course of a single week, all of the following will be released:

- The Avatar MMO (BTW - isabelwhatx - prepare to get pwned)

- The Season 3 box set of Avatar DVDs

- Brisingr - the third and final book in the Inheritance Trilogy

- Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (another game - I read the novelization of it and it appears to be good) No matter how much hold Avatar has gained over me, I will never completely throw off my addiction to the GFFA

Over the last few weeks I have taken every opportunity to make money that I can find. I have done inumberable jobs, taken up baby-sitting - whatever it takes to lay my hands on some cash. I believe I have enough for the lot now

Life is good

Also notable news around this time - I think that by the end of September I should have made some solid progress into my Azula fanfic project. More about that later.

You just keeping telling yourself you can pwn me, Axrendale. We'll see when the time comes We'll see...

I'd completely forgotten about your Azula FF. How much do you have done?

Wow, you actually have a life. Glad to hear the fanfic is still alive.

We need to Agni Kai on the MMO when it's released. *Yeah, you're goin' down!" -Player Aaang

Ahh?! Brisingr is coming out?! How did you find out?

Isabel: I think I'm nearing completion of part 1. It is the least action-orientated part of the story, taking place mostly in the FN mental facility, and is hence the shortest by far. The main purpose is for Azula to get some sanity back (it's been tricky to find a credible way for this to happen, but I think I've found one). She isn't cured - not even close to it, but she calms down back to the point she was at in the early stages of "Into the Inferno" - psychotically paranoid, and tormented by nightmares and the occaisonal hallucination, but she can function well enough to plot an escape plan, and function somewhat normally when required to do so. The other main purpose of part 1 is to introduce the character of Azula's as yet unamed companion in her travels. More about him anon.

So Part 1 is basically a prolouge - I fully intend to make up for it with part 2, which I fully intend to be action-packed, fast paced, and generally exciting, jammed to the hilt with much explosive, blue-tinted magic kung fu

Psychopass: Yep, I have a life. Sort of, anyway. A massive proportion of it is devoted to Avatar fanfic writing and forum participation, writing an essay on Julius Caesar for history class (long term project), and seeking out the conclusions of various other epic legends I enjoy (AKA Star Wars, Inheritance trilogy, etc).

But when I'm not doing those things, I find I do have something of a life

EmoHaruno: Apparently, you haven't been in many book-stores lately. Gigantic posters advertizing the September release have been plastered across the walls and windows of chain book-stores for months now.

When we've both completed our stories we're going to have to compare to see whose is better. ;p

It'll definitely be a toughie

Of course, I think we will both excel in different areas. basing my writing style on that of Matthew Reilly, I think I can presume to give my self some points for the action parts of the story Other than that... well, we'll see.

Since I'm more of an essay writer this story has been somewhat difficult to write. Ideas flow in non-stop but it's a matter of organizing them into something that is readable. Fortunately I have a friend (who I pester with questions :p) who writes a lot so he can help. Both stories will definitely have their strong points.

As for my writing style... Let's just say I take inspiration from many sources. Not Jane Austen, though. I still have nightmares from Emma and the little bits of Pride and Prejudice I read.

I take my inspiration from Mattew Reilly, J.R.R Tolkien, Conn Igulden, Christopher Paolini, Timothy Zahn, Troy Denning, Jonathan Stroud, Julius Caesar (translatred works), and a whole range of other writers. I'm a complete and utter bookworm.

I'm going to have to read Lord of the Kings for homeschooling this year... I am not excited. D:

If it was up to me, I'd use the writing styles of the physicists Richard Feymnman, Michio Kaku, Joao (pronounced Zhao lol) Maguejio and many others but I don't think people want to hear about quantum particles and F=ma in an Avatar story.

I wouldn't be so worried - LOTR may be a bit dry at times, but at other times it can be a truly epic read. Personally, I must say that the Tolkien book I enjoyed reading about most was The Hobbit.

I'll take your word for it... I tried reading the first book in the fourth grade and well I didn't like it. Of course that was 7 grades ago. :p I'm not much a magic and sorcery type of person though so hopefully I can savor the stylistic techniques ([/nerd]).

hey Psycho, I got a book recamendation for u. Ever read Rebecca?

Yours is the one fanfic I may read. I usually ignore fanfics, but you are an intelligent poster and Azula fanatics must stick together.

Fortunatly, the story I have constructed is one that answers the reading needs of a lot of people - whether you like long scenes of character developement, kick-ass action scenes, political intruige, and possibly even the tinniest hint of romance, there it is in there.
Posted Sep 15, 2008 1:42 pm PT
Romance, eh? Sounds saucy.
Posted Sep 15, 2008 1:46 pm PT
Lets face the facts - there is always romance. I defy you to name even one really good epic legend that didn't involve a love interest for either the Hero or one of the main characters.

Animal Farm
Posted Sep 15, 2008 7:31 pm PT
Fine, five epic legends.
Posted Sep 15, 2008 8:04 pm PT
Well, you could say that the farmer once had a romantic relationship with his wife... Yeah, Animal Farm had nothing about love in it. Curse you vile pigs!
