I will tell you right now, I am the worlds most strict critic. I've been playing video games since 5 1/4" floppy's. I've played Zork and was there for 7th Guest, Maniac Mansion, Kings Quest, Quest for Glory, etc.
I originally went to college to become a 3D video game programmer. Unfortunately timing, as usual, was completely off and the market was jumping all over the place with a new 3D GPU card coming out every couple of months. Since video games weren't very large on the generated income level, at that time, I ended up switching to network based things.
I've done some 3D Rendering using Newtek's Lightwave 3D (best bang for the buck especially) and I've played, designed, helped develop a lot more games then most. When I run around a game, I don't see the world. I see the texture detail, bump mapping, FOV, etc. So when I rate something its totally different then the average consumer.
I worked @ gamestop for 8 years including have 2 full time jobs and 1 part time job. Now I hardly play video games and its mainly because of the people that actually read this ABOUT ME stuff. They get too excited and kill it for everyone else. Just like local band, fanboys/fangirls.
Sony is one of the most asinine companies to grace the pages of history. They are pig headed and way too confident for what they have to offer. You think the 360 and the RROD is bad, you should've seen the amount of "Disc Read Errors" the PS2 has. It makes the 360 look like an ant climbing the statue of liberty.
