I always do these blog posts so randomly, and so far in between. Well, if you consider a couple weeks a long time anyway. The dust seems to have settled after E3 and now its time to do the annual game stock up before the extreme gaming lull that is summer. I picked up Half Life 2: Episode One on the weekend and Hitman and Table Tennis for the 360 earlier last week.
So far I've played through about half of Hitman and had a blast actually. I won't spoil it for you, but let me just say that some of the levels are quite interesting and the costumes you can wear are cool/funny. Episode One I 've only spent about 20 minutes with, but I will say this: Valve has made the Source engine look fresh and amazing again, the new HDR lighting and extra polish they've put into it make it look seriously amazing.
I honestly don't understand why more publishers don't put out more games during the summer. I assume they are aiming at a 13-25 age range for most games, and a lot of these target customers will have extra time on their hands from being out of school and have extra cash on hand from working for the summer. Why cram it all in 4th quarter? To capitalize on xmas? Of course, but if you came out with the same game at a time when nothing else was out would you not have a BETTER chance of making money since there would be little competition? One instance of this was Psi-Ops which was great fun, but I played that game WAY more than I might have if it came out in November 04. I bet more people bought it too because it was like the only good game that even came out in June or whenever it did actually release. It would nice to see more game company's spreading out releases instead of cramming them all in November. Seriously, who has time for all those games!? I don't know if I will.

True, Dead Rising does look like it could be a sleeper hit. Killing Zombies in that many ways seems unfathomably satisfying.
