Well now, it seems that only a few minutes ago you visited a blog regarding the all too famous topic about the same 5 things you don't know about someone. This has to stop.
I decided to take a different approach on this changing the idea altogether, something called reverse psychology or something. ![]()
I will state the 5 things I think I know about someone and then change the said person on a different blog and so on.
I should start with Monoco, since he was one of the first people I met here in GS.
So here are the 5 facts I think I know about Monoco:
1. He is from Finland, a country to which I harbor a deep respect and admiration for what it has endured during WWII and throughout history, and what it has now become. The language is a pain to learn though.
2. His parents must be diplomats or else work around the globe, so to explain his mastery over the English language and his knowledge of American culture, pop culture and politics. Perhaps he has studied here, but he seems too young for that.
3. He has a strange affinity towards that "b" actor Bruce Campbell, sometimes bordering on the sentimental attraction. The strange factor is increased by the fact that it is not likely that the BC character is famous in Finland, and I've yet to find evidence that contradicts such statement.
4. It is very hard to bother or anger him. Believe me I've tried. Also I've never seen him angry at someone at the forums, even after catching all sorts of hell when he angered the PS3 Consolish fanboys about some Resistance game that he didn't like, sadly the thread has been erased and he earned a moderation I think.
5. He has the make of a journalist. Well a game journalist at least (a non game journalist would most likely lie, extort, blackmail etc.), for I find his reviews complete, honest and fun to read, and they seem to be written by a guy that had a lot of fun making them. He could take on any reviewer out there, so I guess that is why he seems to accumulate moderations and suspensions
. I can't wait to play Mass Effect for that matter, I mean once they do it correctly for the PC.
So there ya go.
Next week: Alkpaz (I shall be doing these blogs in the order I met people on GS)
Comments
Translation:
Thanks dude, Monoco's link, who really is Monco59 (long story) is the following: http://www.gamespot.com/users/monco59/
In all seriousness, nicely done. I do wonder about his fascination with Bruce Campbell though. =p
And the Bruce Campbell issue always creates a generous amount of controversy when Monoco is involved. It should prove interesting...
@Vainn: Hell, creating controversy is what I'm paid to do!
Errr in these blogs I mean!
That caught my attention
"And Bruce Campbell is definitely not well known in Finland." Aha! The plot thickens!
Secondly, I'm delighted and honored for being chosen to be the first "subject". Again though, it seems to be based on pure timing.
And finally, you're oh so close on some of your points and oh so far on some. For the sake of mystique, I won't correct you.
P.S.
Bruce Campbell is God. It's been scientifically proven.
@RK-Mara: Well it's always nice to meet a Finn! I would say something in Finnish but I lost track of that translation site I once used to trick Monoco that I was versed in your language
@Allicrombie: Oh I'll get there, my therapist told me to blog more often. OF course I'm kidding about that last part. He only told me to play more video games.
@Skull-Fire: Thanks for your comments. Though I haven't played a consolish game in quite a while (Miniature consolish devices like the DS don't count
@Monoco: As Mara has eloquently pointed out, BC is hardly known in Finland, so your strange admiration for him is unfounded. Now that we have direct inside information coming from a Finn, your mancrush could turn for an interesting debate, shaking the foundation of the Friday Funbag!
As for number two, I have indeed traveled the world a bit, thanks to my dad's line of work (nope, not a diplomat). I lived in merry ol' England for almost 2 years, so I guess it helped my English somewhat. However, I'm more inclined to thank movies and television for my mastery of this tongue. After all, I managed to learn pretty fluent Flemish in Belgium by simply watching tv for extended periods of time.
Mocno: Is it ok that I've never heard of Bruce Campbell? Or maybe I have and just can't think of where I've seen him before.....don't kill me -- I'm sorry.
And Monoco you own a copy of what?!
Also I stand corrected, I once knew an exchange student from Sweden that spoke a little Finnish, and he told me that english was an easy transition from swedish. My International Law teacher in turn knew a little Finnish as well so they had a ball comunicating while none of the class knew a thing they were saying! I would in turn ask Lady Chilidragon to elaborate on the transition from swedish to english, but from Finnish?
So Monoco, pray tell, was I ever successful in angering you? I mean I know I have tried and all...
And where the hell is that 'Dogg???
He's hiding in a corner hoping you won't do a blog about him... or at least don't do one filled with lies (*cough* dogg looks like chayanne *cough*).
It has scantily clad female barbarians! Need I say more?
@ xbr:
I'm not as angry as I am perplexed how someone of your age and cultural upbringing doesn't know Bruce Campbell. Far be it for me to be judgemental though.
Just check out the Evil Dead -series. You'll thank me later.
@ Arcadius:
I own this. Watch and be amazed:

And no, you never were succesful for a variety of reasons. I know you never really mean what you say and what you do say is never really that hurtful. Talk bad about NOLF though and I'll open a barrel of whoopass on you.
@ Sydogg:
I just googled this Chayanne. Apart from some goofy attire, the guy looks rather badass, in a gay salsa-fusion way. Why wouldn't you want to look like him?
That is why no one would like to be him. In certain latin countries, Chayane has been known to "hit the ball and run to third base", which in turn is an expression to describe what you just said.
"I own this. Watch and be amazed:

Damn! They cut out the best part!
From the acting looks like a movie BC should be in!
And yes, the latter video is also from Barbarian Queen, a wonderful romp of a movie.
What? I knew that had been suggested about Ricky Martin, but not about Chayanne... well, that's one more reason to hate you then!
Fair point. As a heterosexual woman, I over-looked that part.
