Well now, it seems that only a few minutes ago you visited a blog regarding the all too famous topic about the same 5 things you don't know about someone. This has to stop.

I decided to take a different approach on this changing the idea altogether, something called reverse psychology or something.

I will state the 5 things I think I know about someone and then change the said person on a different blog and so on.

I should start with Monoco, since he was one of the first people I met here in GS.

So here are the 5 facts I think I know about Monoco:

1. He is from Finland, a country to which I harbor a deep respect and admiration for what it has endured during WWII and throughout history, and what it has now become. The language is a pain to learn though.

2. His parents must be diplomats or else work around the globe, so to explain his mastery over the English language and his knowledge of American culture, pop culture and politics. Perhaps he has studied here, but he seems too young for that.

3. He has a strange affinity towards that "b" actor Bruce Campbell, sometimes bordering on the sentimental attraction. The strange factor is increased by the fact that it is not likely that the BC character is famous in Finland, and I've yet to find evidence that contradicts such statement.

4. It is very hard to bother or anger him. Believe me I've tried. Also I've never seen him angry at someone at the forums, even after catching all sorts of hell when he angered the PS3 Consolish fanboys about some Resistance game that he didn't like, sadly the thread has been erased and he earned a moderation I think.

5. He has the make of a journalist. Well a game journalist at least (a non game journalist would most likely lie, extort, blackmail etc.), for I find his reviews complete, honest and fun to read, and they seem to be written by a guy that had a lot of fun making them. He could take on any reviewer out there, so I guess that is why he seems to accumulate moderations and suspensions . I can't wait to play Mass Effect for that matter, I mean once they do it correctly for the PC.

So there ya go.

Next week: Alkpaz (I shall be doing these blogs in the order I met people on GS)

Argh! What have you done?! You may have very well planted the seeds for yet another epidemic! Por que? /sobs

In all seriousness, nicely done. I do wonder about his fascination with Bruce Campbell though. =p
Posted Apr 2, 2008 3:50 pm PT
This could become interesting, and bruce cambell was awesome in the evil dead series especially army of the dead as depicted in your banner.
Posted Apr 2, 2008 4:10 pm PT
oh, and its his avatar too, but that avatar picture is in part 2 also.
Posted Apr 2, 2008 4:12 pm PT
I like the idea Arcadius. And you picked a great first subject.
Posted Apr 2, 2008 4:56 pm PT
1st: Thank you for stopping the epidemic!

2nd: This is going to be fun to read...!
Posted Apr 2, 2008 5:24 pm PT
hehe Thanks guys, of course the debate cannot start until the guest of honor arrives!

And the Bruce Campbell issue always creates a generous amount of controversy when Monoco is involved. It should prove interesting...

@Vainn: Hell, creating controversy is what I'm paid to do!
Posted Apr 2, 2008 6:30 pm PT
It is a good idea but...If I get tagged to list five things about a Gamespot friend I swear to God I will tear your soul from your mortal body and FEED IT TO YOU!
Posted Apr 2, 2008 7:07 pm PT
It's fun! and you get to create controversy! Just wait till I do you.

Errr in these blogs I mean!
Posted Apr 2, 2008 8:34 pm PT
''He is from Finland''

That caught my attention And Bruce Campbell is definitely not well known in Finland.
Posted Apr 2, 2008 9:59 pm PT
OMG, are you from Finland too? And hey you're a PC elitist tool!!

"And Bruce Campbell is definitely not well known in Finland." Aha! The plot thickens!
Posted Apr 2, 2008 11:30 pm PT
Nice idea, but for the moment i thought you are going to write about yourself here, that was the point of that thread afterall ...show your face Arcadius and let the world see who YOU really are ...show them that you are more than a cactus
Posted Apr 3, 2008 12:57 am PT
Yup, I'm a Finn and part of the glorious PC gaming master race
Posted Apr 3, 2008 3:16 am PT
Well lookie here! First of all, like most fellow GameSpotians, I'd like to thank you for breaking this annoying fad. Although like raven pointed out, you may have created a new one in the process.

Secondly, I'm delighted and honored for being chosen to be the first "subject". Again though, it seems to be based on pure timing.

And finally, you're oh so close on some of your points and oh so far on some. For the sake of mystique, I won't correct you.

P.S.
Bruce Campbell is God. It's been scientifically proven.

nice blog, though its gonna be years til you get to me =P

Good read. I also don't like Resistance, major let down. In fact, a lot of the PS3 games have been. Hopefully that will change by the end of this month what with GTA IV coming out, which starts the barrel rolling for other such (hopefuly) great games like Metal Gear Solid 4. Yeah... I stick to the consoles, but thats only because you can't rent PC games to make sure you aren't buying a crappy game. I know there are demos but I don't buy PC magazines, although I thought bout it today and I am on dial up so I can't really download the demos. Well I could but I get cut off every 10 hours. Wow Im babling.. and to think.. I was waking up this time (4:30am) yesterday after 3 and a half hours sleep, later went into town to buy Persona 3 and other such games and DVDs. Anywho, you may not have blogged for a while, but you sure do blog good!
Posted Apr 3, 2008 11:29 am PT
@Gfile: Well I'm no catus, I'm more of a machine dedicated to prove that PC gaming is the way to go and that consolish aparatus are inferior. Fade made me realize that.

@RK-Mara: Well it's always nice to meet a Finn! I would say something in Finnish but I lost track of that translation site I once used to trick Monoco that I was versed in your language . And you are also a PC gamer! Monoco was wrong when he said that he was the only Finn to visit GS. Since then Monoco has been tempted by the dark side of the Consolish devices, and has let them twist him from the true path of a PC gamer...

@Allicrombie: Oh I'll get there, my therapist told me to blog more often. OF course I'm kidding about that last part. He only told me to play more video games.

@Skull-Fire: Thanks for your comments. Though I haven't played a consolish game in quite a while (Miniature consolish devices like the DS don't count ) I heard from Monoco that the Resistance game was a total letdown. You should've seen the fray over at the Resistance forums, Fanboys wanting to crucify our Finnish friend just for saying that the game didn't live up to its expectations. It was like an angry mob trying to burn a witch! Even then he kept his cool, well until yours truly went in dispatching all sorts of hell against the fanatics. Ahh System Wars revisited...

@Monoco: As Mara has eloquently pointed out, BC is hardly known in Finland, so your strange admiration for him is unfounded. Now that we have direct inside information coming from a Finn, your mancrush could turn for an interesting debate, shaking the foundation of the Friday Funbag! Regarding the 5 facts, what intrigues me the most is #2. Since you display a mastery in your english that reveals the fact that either you've traveled all over the world and lived in english speaking countries, which in turn could mean that your parents are either diplomats or because of work may have lived in such places. The idea of you studying outside of Finland long enough to achieve your expertise in english seems unlikely because of your age. OR perhaps you lied about your age and are a 40 year old Finn with a strange attraction towards B movie actors . So which one is it olde chum?
Posted Apr 3, 2008 12:23 pm PT
Well I suppose BC is pretty unknown to regular Finns, but seeing as how I'm a huge cinephile, I'm not exactly your average Finn. I own a copy of Barbarian Queen for chrissakes!

As for number two, I have indeed traveled the world a bit, thanks to my dad's line of work (nope, not a diplomat). I lived in merry ol' England for almost 2 years, so I guess it helped my English somewhat. However, I'm more inclined to thank movies and television for my mastery of this tongue. After all, I managed to learn pretty fluent Flemish in Belgium by simply watching tv for extended periods of time.

Monco:
Why on earth would did you buy that horrible waste of celluloid?
Posted Apr 3, 2008 8:01 pm PT
Haha oh man this is going to be really fun to read. I'll be 90 by the time you roll around to me, but I'd be hilariously interested to see what you come up with.

Mocno: Is it ok that I've never heard of Bruce Campbell? Or maybe I have and just can't think of where I've seen him before.....don't kill me -- I'm sorry.
Posted Apr 3, 2008 8:25 pm PT
Oh Xbox(ICD)rulze you might wanna think again about bad-mouthin' good olde BC with Monoco reading. He is rather "territorial" when it comes to him.

And Monoco you own a copy of what?!

Also I stand corrected, I once knew an exchange student from Sweden that spoke a little Finnish, and he told me that english was an easy transition from swedish. My International Law teacher in turn knew a little Finnish as well so they had a ball comunicating while none of the class knew a thing they were saying! I would in turn ask Lady Chilidragon to elaborate on the transition from swedish to english, but from Finnish?

So Monoco, pray tell, was I ever successful in angering you? I mean I know I have tried and all...

And where the hell is that 'Dogg???
Posted Apr 3, 2008 9:00 pm PT
Almost forgot (ICD) means Inferior Consolish Device, I still have trouble typing the name of a console without adding the suffix Inferior Consolish Device.
Posted Apr 3, 2008 9:02 pm PT
"And where the hell is that 'Dogg???"

He's hiding in a corner hoping you won't do a blog about him... or at least don't do one filled with lies (*cough* dogg looks like chayanne *cough*).
Posted Apr 3, 2008 9:46 pm PT
@ Chili:

It has scantily clad female barbarians! Need I say more?

@ xbr:

I'm not as angry as I am perplexed how someone of your age and cultural upbringing doesn't know Bruce Campbell. Far be it for me to be judgemental though.

Just check out the Evil Dead -series. You'll thank me later.

@ Arcadius:

I own this. Watch and be amazed:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMheWFtXRHU

And no, you never were succesful for a variety of reasons. I know you never really mean what you say and what you do say is never really that hurtful. Talk bad about NOLF though and I'll open a barrel of whoopass on you.

@ Sydogg:

I just googled this Chayanne. Apart from some goofy attire, the guy looks rather badass, in a gay salsa-fusion way. Why wouldn't you want to look like him?
Posted Apr 4, 2008 1:01 am PT
"in a gay salsa-fusion way" Bingo!

That is why no one would like to be him. In certain latin countries, Chayane has been known to "hit the ball and run to third base", which in turn is an expression to describe what you just said.

"I own this. Watch and be amazed:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMheWFtXRHU"

Damn! They cut out the best part!
Posted Apr 4, 2008 1:06 pm PT
Monoco: You've still to respond to your fellow Finn's allegations regrarding BC..........
Posted Apr 4, 2008 1:07 pm PT
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZS29METGwEI&NR=1

really Is this from the movie too?

From the acting looks like a movie BC should be in!
Posted Apr 4, 2008 1:16 pm PT
You mean him saying BC is an unknown here? I fully agree with him on that.

And yes, the latter video is also from Barbarian Queen, a wonderful romp of a movie.
Posted Apr 4, 2008 1:29 pm PT
"In certain latin countries, Chayane has been known to "hit the ball and run to third base"..."

What? I knew that had been suggested about Ricky Martin, but not about Chayanne... well, that's one more reason to hate you then!
Posted Apr 4, 2008 1:46 pm PT
" well, that's one more reason to hate you then! " haha Mission Acomplished! JK
Posted Apr 4, 2008 5:39 pm PT
monco:
Fair point. As a heterosexual woman, I over-looked that part.
Posted Apr 4, 2008 6:40 pm PT
"(ICD) means Inferior Consolish Device" So, finally ...is it "Chayanne", "Chayane"? ...i must check that link immidiatelly

I do remember Mara mentioning she was Fin quite a few blogs of yours back Arcadius.. Also her Forum Banner is a picture of a keyboard which does mean, to me at least she is a comp gamer.. (just logical deduction) Monco, I know little about.. guess that is because I haven't had as much exposure to him as I have you or Mara.. (BTW this is Alkpaz) Just an older account that I thought I should use.. but alas Arcadius still beats me in age of a GSer I wonder how much Arcadius remembers about me.. hmmm He has to run through a lot of old old posts.. Also, I haven't posted on the PC forums for quite some time due to the front page of GS removed the "new topics in our PC forums" section. Coincidentally right after the whole Jeff thing went down.. and so I stopped using my "new" profile.. (okay I lied I just logged onto it just right now) Anyways, good topic.. makes me get to know people a bit better. (and not in a nightclub sort of way)
Posted Apr 5, 2008 4:49 pm PT
Wow! When is my week up???
Posted Apr 5, 2008 9:29 pm PT
I think Arcadius went the way of the dodo. Just like Sydogg.
Posted May 1, 2008 12:39 am PT
