Oh yeah! The New Year holds many a new show trying to break the mold of tried and true. Personally I'm looking forward to the debut of "V" . In the vein of comic book heroes January on FOX will bring Human Target starring Mark Valley, Chi McBride and Jackie Earle Haley. Based on the DC comic character Christopher Chance (Mark Valley) and helmed by MCG of Chuck fame. Action packed adventure. Bear McCreary scores the pilot episode, he's the guy behind the awesome music from Battlestar Galactica and Sarah Connor Chronicles. This is the music for Caprica which he is also did. If you haven't seen Caprica I highly recommend it. You can watch a trailer for the series pilot Danny Glover is a special guest and BSG's Number 6 is also in Human Target. This is a redo of the ABC 1992 series starring Rick Springfield! LOL that's the comic book connection. Fringe has a comic out as well.

Another comic book series in the works for 2010 is The Walking Dead, executive produced by David Alpert and produced, written and directed by Frank Darabont (the genius behind The Green Mile). HBO has Treme, about New Orleans musicians, not sure where the story will go with this one but it's being helmed by David Simon and Eric Overmyer of Homicde: Life on the Streets. And of course the prequel to Battlestar Galactica, Caprica starts in 2010.

Another new show (British) is Murderland with Robbie Coltrane and it's very very good. I'm really loving Flashforward, it's right up my alley. Fringe continues to amaze me, can't wait for J.J.'s new project in 2010. So what shows have blown you away or disappointed you, post a comment.

Well it's V and Caprica for me

Glad you found some shows to look forward to. Those aren't really my cup of tea. I'm really enjoying Castle this season (I missed it last season, but caught up during the summer). Modern Family and The Middle really keep me laughing. I can't think of any other new shows I've been watching. I thought I couldn't wait for Chuck to come back, but now they're saying it might come back early (because Southland was canceled), and won't get the promotion they would have given it during the winter Olympics, as planned. I don't know if that's a good idea. I don't want it to come back just so NBC can cancel it because of poor ratings. I'm so disgusted with NBC. The only time I watch is Thursdays, and sometimes not even then. They can't afford to cancel good shows. /rant

Thanks for the update. Also White Collar premiere's on USA this Friday. It looks like it may be good as well. I'm looking forward to Human Target and Walking Dead. Also I may check out V, but I was around for the first time and it sort of got old after a while. All I can remember was Marc "Beastmaster" Singer in the lead role! Thanks, Jeffery

Well, I am stoked about V though I think the promos are so-so and the lead female Visitor doesn't strike me as one with a lot of charisma that is needed for the role. I want to see how AMC takes on Walking Dead as it seems like subject matter that doesn't translate into a weekly series but we shall see....maybe some day, they'll dig up the old, very brief series Fifth Corner and redo that for today's audience.

I am also looking forward to V and Human Target. I really like the new show The Forgotten.

Hi Danharr, Have you seen the pilot film for Caprica? It's excellent. Hi IndianaMom, I haven't seen Castle yet, but I too watched it over the summer. I am enjoying Modern Family and Glee. NBC has been a huge letdown, Journeyman should not have been cancelled. Ditto for Life.

Hi Jeffrey, There are alot of new shows coming up, I guess it's a fight for the ratings battle. White Collar looks really good, I like Matt Bomer, a former Guiding Light actor, last seen in The Traveler and Chuck.

Hi April.

I'm actually enjoying quite a few new shows, which is rare for me. Hank and The Middle are very funny and Community is too, in a rather odd sort of way. Castle (not totally new) is grrrrreat and I think The Forgotten is off to a good start.

Hi Maritimer, OMG I loved The Fifth Corner!!! Yes it was short-lived, is it the one with Kim Delany and James Coburn, early 90's? And Morena Baccarin was awesome in Firefly and Stargate: SG1, I think she's got the perfect Spockish demeanor.
Posted Oct 22, 2009 2:53 pm PT
White Collar looks good. It'll be interesting to see how V comes out, too...
Posted Oct 22, 2009 2:53 pm PT
Yep, Coburn played the mysterious guy who was poking around trying to find out more about the amnesiac main character..it had a lot of elements that I liked but got a lousy timeslot if I remember right. If it aired today, it might be a consistent top twenty show easily....

I am soooo looking forward to "V"! I saw the trailer for it again last night and
I think it's going to, as the kids say, ROCK!

Why have I not heard a peep about this "Caprica"? The music was nice, and I
also looked at the youtube offering of the trailer and it looks sharp! I don't
get how it's a spin-off from BSG as it seems to take place in the near future.
Kind of reminds me of "AI".

Anything Frank Darabont touches is pure gold! His screenplays are so excellent, as
is his directing skills! Loved his Shawshank Redemption and of course The Green Mile!

My wife and I have lost track of "Fringe" because we can't find it on the TV! It must
conflict with one of our other shows. It didn't last season. I liked it, but it was getting
on my nerves a bit with all the mystery without any kind of resolution or answers.

No word of a lie, I've never ever heard of this show, "Human Target"! And it was on
ABC? And they made a comic book out of it too?

We are loving "House". It'll be interesting how the guilt is going to make Chase
lose his mind. It's really eatting him up how he "assasinated" Dibala. My wife and I
were killing ourselves laughing at the "autopsy". Foreman's face was priceless!

I'm still hunting for info about Lost! Robbie Coltrane was in some Bond films, that's how I know him. Have a great week!

Hi Cat, The Forgotten is okay but it needs something else, can't put my finger on it, you want to care about the characters but something is missing. I preferred Christian Slater in My Own Worst Enemy my hubby does too. All in all it's an okay series.

Hi Karl, I actually watched Hank the other day and realized that Kelsey is his usual pompous character. I like Castle but I haven't seen the new season yet. I'm running out of hours to watch everything! LOL!!!
Posted Oct 23, 2009 5:43 am PT
Hi Moonshadow, Is your nick after the Cat Stevens song? Geez now I can't get that song out of my head, great song BTW. I'm being followed by a Moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow. I'm definitely going to give White Collar a chance.
Posted Oct 23, 2009 5:46 am PT
Maritimer, There's a story about the series from an extra who worked on it and it was very insightful HERE. Seems it's still a mystery about what happened to the show today.
Posted Oct 23, 2009 5:50 am PT
Hi BuskieBoy, V is amazing, there a few cast members from The 4400 the only thing that I'm concerned about is that they are only airing 4 episodes in November and then won't return until after the Olympics! Yikes!!! Caprica story is before BSG, it's where the birth of the Cylons happen and where it all began. You can watch "Fringe" online at CTV.ca. House has been great as usual but things are really changing, I heard that Cameron is leaving the show so that will leave Chase.
Posted Oct 23, 2009 5:59 am PT
I am so ready for V!!! Fringe and NCIS: LA, along with NCIS are keeping me happy this season. Supernatural is also on my list of Good this season. I'm still trying to catch up on some shows that I missed and dvr'ed. I hope you have a great weekend.

Hi Woolsey, Happy Belated Birthday Wishes, did you have a delicious cake? Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

Hi Scott, I have the same problem, too many things I want to watch. You have a great weekend too, thanksQ!

Ah, so I understand now. "Caprica" is actually a prequel. Now that sounds
VERY interesting! I love "how-it-came-to-be" back stories! I'm sure you
know that Joel Gretsch (4400, Taken) is married to Melanie Shatner, daughter of
good ol' Capt. Kirk himself! They just had thier 10th wedding aniversary this Sept.

Thanks for the tip about CTV, we'll have to go there and catch up.

EVERYBODY is leaving "House"! Kutner shoots himself; Taub quits because he
came to work with House; 13 just flew to Thailand and now you say rumour has
it Cameron is going to leave (probably Chase tells her the truth and she can't take it).
I wouldn't be surprised if Chase and Forman get nicked for the murder.
I'm getting a bit worried because I like the chemistry right now.

Btw, did you know that Olivia Wilde (13/Dr. Hadley) is starring in the new
Tron remake: Tron Legacy !! It's in post-production and due out December 2010.

Posted Oct 23, 2009 11:01 pm PT
I did not know that Joel is married to Shatman's daughter, that must make for interesting Holiday celebrations. RE: House: I really wonder who will be brought in to replace all the empty slots or will they remain that way. No I did not know they were making a remake of TRON, I'm not surprised she's getting more film roles, she's a very talented lady.

Hi April, We've been following Flashforward, Fringe, Eastwick, Cougar Town including old favourites Dexter, Californication, Desperate Housewives, Being Erica, Bones, NCIS, Ugly Betty, Cold Case, Old Christine, Gary Unmarried, Smallville, Medium, Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, not in any particular order. I must admit to being slightly underwhelmed by Fastforward as it seems to be moving very slowly. We haven't bothered with any more Dollhouse or NCIS LA after the dismal season openers.

Hi Maverick, Wow sounds like your family watches alot too! Since I posted my blog all of a sudden there are several preview videos of Human Target I can tell you it sure looks action packed, along the lines of 24. There are several former BSG cast members in the pilot episode, Number 6, Doc Cottle. A site is already up following the show HERE.

Hi again. I used to have a black cat that I named Moonshadow. She had been abandoned by the side of a rural highway. I was walking, and petted her, and she followed me. That's when I realized she must have been abandoned there. It was more than a mile from any houses, and she was just a kitten. I named her after the song. She lived to be 22 years old!
Posted Oct 24, 2009 12:58 pm PT

Actually, it is a sequel, 25 years later. The program Kevin Flynn (Bridges) used
in the original movie has started to mutate and do odd things. Flynn's son
has to go inside the system to figure it out and finds his dad (Bridges) who's
been a prisoner inside it for 25 years!

Here is a REALLY good looking special effect concept test/trailer

It's going to be 3D obviously, as this will be the future of movies.

I agree about Olivia Wilde. She is a very good actor and she must have the
sexiest eyes in history.
She was #1 on the Maxim magazine "Hot 100" of 2009 list.

Posted Oct 24, 2009 2:22 pm PT
Hi Moonshadow, Wow the oldest cat I ever had was Sam and she lived to be 18 broke my heart when she passed away in 2005, she is and was my most dearest friend. I named her after Bewitched Sam(antha) Stevens. Thanks for sharing your story, it's a lovely one.
Posted Oct 25, 2009 5:29 am PT
Wow what a trailer! Jeff Bridges looks bad--- LOL what happened to the sweet goofy guy. Olivia reminds me of a slinky sexy cat, her movements are so graceful and she unconciously exudes sexiness, just like Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie, very few actresses have that natural chemistry happening.

Hi April! I'm really looking forward to "V" and also because of my fondness for all things British and an even bigger fondness for crime stuff, "Murderland". Hope you enjoy all your shows, then again, I know you will. *smile* Be good! LL
Posted Oct 25, 2009 2:29 pm PT
If I read the synopsis correctly, Flynn has been held captive for 25 years and I'm assuming he's the one up in the mountain window. A prisoner, in a nice cell, but a prisoner none-the-less. The motorcyclist is the "program". You can see how it uses Flynn's likeness in the helmet.

Something or someone has corrupted Flynn's original program he used to defeat Master Control 25 years ago in the original "Tron".

Hi Lady L, I have this neat little program my hubby got for me called British TV, I click on it and I can see what's available to watch and I watch all kinds of lovely British television on Saturday and Sundays, although yesterday at 4pm EST I was able to watch "Murderland". Really love being able to do that thanks ITV!
Posted Oct 27, 2009 11:26 am PT
Hi BB, I tell you he really creeped me out, I had shivers, and I think your right someone has altered his program. It does look exciting though, now my youngest wants to see the original. BTW my youngest and I watched "Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man" last night followed by "Creature From the Black Lagoon". I've got him hooked on the oldies too.
Posted Oct 27, 2009 11:29 am PT

Excellent that he wants to watch the original "Tron". It was ahead of it's time and I still remember the buzz about all the "special effects". I don't even think the term "CGI" was in use back then!
Amazingly most of the effects were cleverly filmed with special lighting and costuming!

Ironic that you watched "Creature From the Black Lagoon", as I was watching an episode of CSI: NY last night called "BOO". There was an old woman on it and she looked sooooo familiar. It was an 83 year old "Julie Adams" who played the lead in that movie!! She's been on EVERYTHING on TV, boasting a 96 line tv resume alone! She was a regular on "The Jimmy Stewart Show". (I never knew he had a tv show!?)

Btw, did you know that they're re-making "CFTBL", and rumour is "Bill Paxton" ("It's Game over, Man! Game Over!") will lead.
Read more HERE.

Jimmy Stewart also had another show called "Hawkins" both were short-lived, remember in the 70's alot of the older actors were doing detective shows. Karl Malden, William Conrad, Eddie Albert. Yes I saw her in that episode . They are doing alot of remakes, The A-Team with Liam Neeson as Hannibal. The Birds is another one being remade with George Clooney and Naomi Watts. The list goes on.

Hello again. It is heartbreaking when we lose our furry friends. Moonshadow was an exceptionally sweet kitty.
