It's a new day and new dawn ...... this really applies to several things happening around here (home and tv.com). We had severe storms last night and the town of Durham which is 15 minutes away from us got hit hard by a tornado, as did several other cities in Ontario last night HERE. We were really lucky in that the storm just blew thru here so quickly (15minutes), I think alot has to do with the Wind Turbines, they seem to move storm systems outta here more quickly. So sorry for the loss of lives, those poor families were on vacation no less.

And the changes at tv.com keep coming, thank you, now I have to add the stars and recurring cast individually, why you ask?, well the import only allows you to import crew not stars in the adding cast section. Thank you for that (she says sarcastically). I have this weird bug that happens if I have a name (specifically Supercalifragalisticexpialodous) it's a song from Mary Poppins and in one of my episodes of the Mike Douglas Show it was sung, it was rejected because the name is too long for a search on the internet! LOL!!!!! Okay I let that one go and listed it as the Supercali song from Mary Poppins instead. So I'm kind of confused do they want us to add stars individually because it now takes you back (if you click on return to episode such and such) to the add sections and not the overview. Oiy Vey!

On the TV front, I can't wait for the Fall season to start, there are several shows I'm looking forward to namely Flash Forward, Three Rivers, Trauma, Mercy, NCIS LA, Glee, The Vampire Diaries and a few regulars Medium (thank you CBS!), NCIS, Chuck, 24, Fringe, Lie to Me, CSI, Bones, Castle, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, House, and I'm sure I'm missing a few. Yeah I love TV. The summer programs brought some wonderful surprises with Nurse Jackie, Royal Pains, Warehouse 13, The Philanthropist and the return of Burn Notice, In Plain Sight, Psych and Monk. And of course on the reality TV front there are always unexpected events and turmoil on Big Brother. LOL ne'er a dull moment. Shows I will miss are Boston Legal, Battlestar Galactica and Life.

Hello there, AprilFox. It's a new day indeed.

I'm so sorry about the storms. That was terrible. So glad you and yours are OK. We had a tornado watch in our area Wednesday night. I was concerned about my sister-in-law, who was reluctant to move here because of tornados. We only got a rain storm, and it wasn't too bad. I've heard people talk about importing cast and crew, but I never tried it. I watched Castle during the summer and I'm looking forward to new episodes. And, I know some NCIS fans are against NCIS: LA, but I'm looking forward to it.

I am glad you and your family are safe. It seems like the summer shows just started and more than half are over all ready not to return till late Winter or Spring. Fall season should be pretty good. Looking forward to NCIS LA, Glee, Eastwick, Community, as well as old favorites Bones, CSI, Castle, Supernatural, Chuck, TBBT, and Two and a Half Men.

The import cast function hopefully gets fixed soon given the number of shows with large ensemble casts. I'd like to see Flash Forward do well but a tuff time slot and a plot that looks like people might have to watch and follow may spell doom in this era of quick attention spans (V is scheduled for mid season and might be half decent...). My neck of the woods gets the remnants of Hurricane Bill this weekend....man, I prefer winter for storms!

Wow - I can't imagine how terrifying it would be for your cabin to be lifted from the ground and dumped in the water. Glad to hear you didn't get too much of it. I too am looking forward to Medium, also The Mentalist which was great last season. Silly TV.com!

That "too long for a search" was actually bounced back to you with that reason? That is the weirdest thing ever.
Posted Aug 21, 2009 1:01 pm PT
I'll have to see what's up with Flash Forward and I'm still on the fence about Vampire Diaries.

If you say it loud enough you'll always sound precocious.

So tv.com is still finding ways to make editing harder, eh? Sorry to hear it.

Those storms sound terrible. My condolences to everyone who was affected.

Hi Angeldeb, I was going for a reverse on Nina Simone's, "It's a new dawn, it's a new day", "Feelin' Good" song.

Hi IndianaMom, We never get tornadoes this far north so it's really unusual. I loved Castle too, it was a pleasant surprise. I like Marsha Hunt and I think she's a great Hetty!

Hi jyarter, Doh! I forgot all about Eastwick which I am also looking forward too. Is Community the one with Chevy Chase? It looks very funny. Hi Maritimer, Yes I saw Hurricane Bill mentioned for you the Atlantic Provinces. Stay dry! V is definitely on my list, I still have a Marc Singer crush after all these years! LOL!

Hi Caroline, It was close that's for sure, I saw the brown sky and I knew something weird was up. The thunder was also different a low ground shaking rumble that lasted way too long, felt more like an earthquake. I'm so happy CBS picked up Medium.

Hi Jekyll, That weird thing is that I'm editor of The Mike Douglas Show and it would not let me submit it with the title in full, the reason was as I said "too long for an internet search". HUH!!! Figures it would happen to me, I get all the bizarro stuff happening.

Hi Danharr, I give all shows a try and some more than one, if it catches my eye or not. I like variety and that's what they seem to have in store this season. Wonder which one will be the first to fall?

Hi Moonshadow, LOL, yes very precocious and difficult indeed. Yes we definitely were the lucky ones, the damage and losses that surround our town are awful. My mom who lives in Toronto, just waited it out in the basement that's what the news media advised. Alot of people had no idean how to deal with it.

Hi AprilFox,

That's too bad about those storms. Where I live, they can be nice, being relatively rare here, but still dangerous.
Posted Aug 22, 2009 6:09 am PT
It's sadly ironic that the men killed were from, of all places, Oklahoma, one of the tornado capitals of the world.
Posted Aug 22, 2009 6:12 am PT
Hi tvking, That was bizarre wasn't it, kind of reminded me of the Final Destination series of films, if your number is up, it's up.

Hi April, glad to hear that you're safe. We're fortunate not to get such bad weather in the UK. The last serious storm here was in 1987 and I just happened to be 8,500 miles away!
I agree with you about NCIS, Medium, 24, Fringe, Lie to Me, CSI, Bones, Desperate Housewives and I'll also miss Life. Warehouse 13 is fun and we're getting by with Eureka, Hung, Smallville, and Weeds. Really looking forward to Dexter and have seen the pre-air episode 1 of Season 4... 3rd Rock's Dick Solomon as a serial killer - GREAT!

Those were wicked storms eh? I was napping in the bedroom and the
thunder and lightning woke me up with a fright. They were loud, long
and frequent. Apart from the tragedy, I do love a good summer storm!

Sadly, the little boy here in Brampton that was hit by lightning died yesterday.

So very, very sad. When a sweet little lad like that dies, it's just wrong.

It's been a very weird summer.

I don't understand. The system rejected Supercali? You're the editor for MD, so
who "checks" the source other than you? It doesn't make sense.

My better half and I are looking forward to a new season of:

Fringe (Will we get some answers?)
Mentalist (Will he find Red John?)
House (What House will emerge from re-hab?)
30 Rock (More my wife's show)

And we just caught on to Boston Legal in reruns and now join all the other fans
saddened by it's leaving. It is a odd show isn't it?

Did you get a chance to see the Official Avatar Trailer?
It looks amazing, and it should look great with the digital 3D!!!

I can relate to the feelings about the deadly storms, since I have lived in "tornado alley" most of my life. Tornadoes can form most anywhere in North America, except for the desert areas that don't get warm/cold fronts. Most early homesteaders in my area built tornado shelters, which also doubled as fall-out shelters during the Cold War!

Strange case with the "Supercali." song. I had no idea that there was a built-in limit for word length on the submission form...but, there aren't too many words that are 30+ letters long

Hi Maverick, Dexter is scary awesome isn't he! LOL, so surprising to see Dick Solomon as a baddie, he's good.

Hi BuskieBoy, That's so sad about Kyus (unsual name). Okay so here it goes if you add "Supercalifragalisticexpialidous" in the summary it rejects it as being to long for an internet search, so I had no alternative in order to force the summary thru, I had to amend it to read Mary Poppins "Supercali" song. Maybe I should try it with hyphens. It's an automatic message that shows up if your word is too long (according to their standards here).

Hi Jokipper, I have only seen a waterspout in Florida during Hurricane Diana in 1984. I was vacationing as my plane came in for a landing (extremely turbulent flight) I had no idea I was landing in the middle of the start of Hurricane Diana. Nice vacation. But I did get to see some unusual weather and made it thru it okay by myself. It must be pretty scary when you receive tornado warnings, there was quite a panic going on in Toronto when the word hit the airwaves.

It brings back memories of school when we had penmanship. We'd all be waiting for the letter A so we could suggest the word, "antidisestablishmentarianism"! Why kids would want to spell a big word is beyond me.

What do they do with any stars of a show who might be from Sri Lanka? They have names that take a whole alphabet! (Of course they'd change their name, no?)
Posted Aug 26, 2009 12:57 pm PT
LOL BuskieBoy, I have no idea, I think that section is safe as is the blog section however in the television episode section it does not like anything long.

Considering a trip to Durham next year if the dominoes all fall where they should....

Hi again AF! I thought I was going to be around here much more over the summer, but I ended up being much busier then I had anticipated!
I see that you're looking forward to Castle and Bones... I've heard a lot about Castle being similar to Bones in the aspect of the two main characters have UST and chemistry. However I haven't tuned into an episode yet, how would you compare the two?
Posted Sep 7, 2009 6:17 pm PT
Hi T, Nothing wrong with a busy summer. I like that both have strong women characters and the men who are attracted to them have fun usually at their own expense which makes for great comic relief as well as intense chemistry. Storylines are great and so is the dialogue, acting, the entire production is well done for both Bones and Castle.
