Some of you may have heard me talking about the House of Vultures. It's an old rundown farm house just outside of town (about 3 minutes from where I live). So named by us because for the past 8 years Turkey Vultures have made this their mating house usually on the chimney. It's really an amazing site to behold but difficult to photograph, they are a very nervous predator. So the shots are taken by my hubby (I'm the worst photographer ever unless you like headless shots!). The Turkey Vultures are currently roosting in my 60 foot spruces and cedars. They do that every year because it's the perfect vantage point to see everything. Needless to say I'm not to happy about that but it's only for a short time then they head off to the House of Vultures. And by the fall they return with their youngun and show them the tree line. Argh! They are really interesting to watch and I have observed very peculiar tendencies from them. If you get to close they will throw up on you and it stinks! Don't forget they are carcass eaters of exceptionally smelly rotten food. They urinate on their nests to keep anything and everything away, it's that nasty. Ain't nature grand! I still enjoy watching them, in the air they are poetry in motion and on the ground they're vicious carnavores.

And the Appalosa and her colt are taken from a nearby farm. As you can see we are pretty flat around here. We have Wind Turbines further down the road which are popping up at a fast rate. Yes being flat brings huge winds here. This is basically potato country but we have alot of horse farms, cow farms, etc. here. The other large industry here is fresh spring water which is bottled in the next town and sold across North America.

PS. I think they should make a horror film at the House of Vultures, it looks really creepy at night.

Good Evening.

Alfred Hitchcock now a word from our Sponsor

As many of you know Alfred was famous for making fun of the sponsors of his television series' Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. I thought this picture kind of says it all. While the second of his series' isn't as good as the first it still has it's merits. I think because of the success of Twilight Zone he tended to go and little more sci-fi in his episodes. Entertaining they were, great they weren't, but still enjoyable to watch. There are several well-known actors that appeared in the second series, so your turn to guess who.

Alfred Hitchcock Hour Guest

Clue: If your feeling a little blue go to New York.

Alfred Hitchcock Hour Guest 2

Clue: I'm ready for my closeup Mr. DeMille.

Alfred Hitchcock Hour Guest 3

Clue: Survey Says...

So how did you do? Are you able to connect them to their various shows and series'?

Alfred Hitchcock Rifle

Hitchcock should have made a movie called, The Man Who Never Smiled starring himself.

You can watch The Alfred Hitchcock Hour online HERE, I really recommend seeing the Master at work he really was the best. Good Evening.

EARTH DAY 2008

April 22, 2008 also the birthday of actor/enviromentalist Eddie Albert and the birthday of Julius Sterling Morton, the founder of Arbor Day, a national tree-planting holiday started in 1872.

John Denver's song "Celebrate Earth Day" can be viewed and heard HERE.

Last week my Sugar Maples were giving me tons of sap which I cooked (outside over 3 days) until I had the wonderfully delicious tasting maple syrup. I got a gallon's worth of the golden delight .

I can't imagine life without the trees that bring not only shelter and a home for nature but food for those of us fruit lovers. I can't imagine not going fishing to cook a yummy bass on the fire pit. I can't imagine not gardening and planting seeds that bring so much food for our family. I can't imagine not walking in the forest enjoying the fresh air and the birds singing. All this and more is what I'm grateful for on this our planet Earth. So everyone enjoy the day and try to be a little kinder to Mother Earth. My boys are going litter collecting at the side of the highways today. I will be outside clipping back my Raspberry and Blackberry Canes. I worked on my Hydrangea bushes yesterday, clipped my Mulberry Tree, clipped the Apple Tree and raked until my poor arms felt like falling off.

Happy Earth Day!
