I hadn't actually heard of this until it arrived in the box office and even then i never really took and interest in it. This of course because i haven't seen the infamous trailer. So when i seen it i didn't really know what to expect. The Story: At first it seemed like it was going to be a typical who-dunnit type of film, like Se7en and Along Came a Spider. However about 45 minutes into the film that whole notion goes out the window and adds a new dimension to solving the case. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but at first it did have me raising some questions since i expected this to try and be as realistic as it could. However more and more is explained about this new method which takes the film into a more Sci-Fi-esque genre until the film is completely converted into one. I wasn't one to complain about this drastic change, it first it took me off guard but i adjusted and accepted it instead of letting it ruin the film. Aside from this new method its a fairly typical crime investigation film for the majority of it but the new method sort of overshadows that giving the film an overall Minority Report like feel to it. The film does have you thinking quite a bit and to some people it can be confusing at times which is understandable given the nature of whats going on.

The Acting & Characters: The characters are portrayed quite well, they all seem to be there for a reason where as in some film characters are just thrown in for the sake of it. Every character you see really plays a part in the overall ending of things, which is nice to see that the movie was as well thought out as it was. It could easily have been plot holed filled (not saying the films plot-hole proof) had it just been thrown together but it is well thought out and the characters and actors make this apparent. The Script & Direction: Like i said its a well thought out film that must have taken some time to get your head around if you were to write it. The Dialog is sort of basic in the sense that it just involves what it needs. Because of the fresh method of crime investigation they use some of the audience found it a little hard to keep track of, not knowing what was happening when it a sense, I don't know if this is down to direction or them not paying attention but other than that Tony Scott does a wonderful job at delivering both a Crime Drama and a Sci-Fi film, two genres which aren't usually related but pulled of well in this film.

Considering the circumstances in which it was made 1. Being a Game-Movie film when nothing had been successful in doing so and 2. Paul W.S Anderson in the directors chair. It actually turned out okay. Mortal Kombat is highly regarded as a highlight in the gaming rings with something like 12 titles under its belt and growing. The film however has its good and bad points. Pros- The music. Long after this film and the games are forgotten that music will live on. Somehow that music captured the essence of Mortal Kombat with ease. The fights. Surprisingly they are pretty well made, a few unnecessary flips here and there but it stays true to the characters from the game often using their famous moves like little homages when its not.

The Story. Again its surprisingly good, it won't have you totally gripped since its basically just a way to take you from fight to fight, but even considering that, it could be worse.

Cons - The Writing. As good as the story is, some of the dialog is lacking in places with a few flat lines. Of course like the story the lines are just there to progress from fight to fight.

- The number of characters. It just seems like they have tried to cram every Mortal "Kombatant" into the film without and real excuse.

Overall the film could have been a hell of a lot worse than it was. I can think of countless films that have failed at doing justice to their franchise, but this film does actually do the source material some justice.

IMO the best M. Night Shyamalan film to date. Its the first third of any Superhero origin movie extended to a full film and it is in every sense of the word fantastic. Its hard to explain why it works so well, maybe its the subtle things maybes...

Surprisingly a film about a strip club full of Vampires is actually quite good. However it doesn't start in such a way, It starts as a typical running movie, like Thelma and Louise with guys. They kidnap a family to make their way across the border into Mexico and thats when all hell breaks loose.

What makes it so good is that fact that its treated like a B-movie. All the characters are off the wall and the situations they are in is just strange. But they take it all in their stride and it makes for a hell of a good time.

One of the best Superhero films ever made. Even with the recent flurry of Special Effects filled Superhero films, most of them don't even come close to capturing the heart the way Superman still does today. Christoper Reeve is probably one of the best castings ever, even more so for an unknown at the time. Like Star Wars This film had a lot of groundbreaking effects, most of which don't look amazing now but they are more than tolerable and believable with Reeves acting Donners Directing. Another thing that stands out among the greatness of this film is the score. John Williams is without a doubt one of the most brilliant minds when it comes to composing and Superman is a direct example of that with one of the most famous theme songs ever to grace the cinema.

A great way to conclude one of the greatest trilogies in cinema history. Hollywood tends to have a reputation of the third film of a Trilogy not living up to its predecessors. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is one of the few that get better as they go. This final installment is by far the best, but i imagine topping the first two was no easy task. This film is without a doubt an epic masterpiece with greatness written all over it. For a movie about walking it deserves all the praise and attention it gets.

Not quite as great as it was hyped up to be, or IMO really good enough to become the 3rd film to break a billion. Don't get me wrong this is by no means a bad film, its quite entertaining. Aside from the effects the only bettered themselves in the fight sequences, specifically the main 3-way battle. Overall the film does do well, better than the first IMO, but i didn't regard the first in that high esteem. It's a good film, but certainly not this generations Empire Strikes Back (which it was compared too.).

This truly is one of the best films to grace the screens this year. Just because he's old doesn't mean he doesn't rock.

One of the best Cop/Thriller/Horror/Crime films you'll ever see. What can you really say about something as legendary as Se7en? Lets face it the film is a masterpiece. Theres nothing I can think of that'd make this film any better. 6/5
