When I first seen the Nintendo Wii, I said wow, much like the many millions that have bought into the Console's hype since it's launch in December. Nine months down the line, I feel the Console stagnating both in Games and the Control Scheme. Overall, do I think this could be a Gamecube reprisal . . . indeed I do.
Nintendo have thus far not managed to make a decent Console since the Nintendo 64 and the Wii is bound to recieve it's fair share of damage from being both under-powered and a tacked-on Console that tries to revive the Gamecube generation. Personally, I think Nintendo should have made a Controller adapter for the Gamecube instead of building a whole 'new' Console, it would have made more sense.
It's questionable how Nintendo think this Console will live over the hype it has generated. Currently, the Japanese are dropping the Console for more favorable Gaming Systems (X360, PS3 & PC) to gain a better gaming experience.
After catching up with Iwata-san's most recent Nintendo Press E-Mail on the Nintendo Wii's position in the Gaming Industry, he has stated that he's currently not happy with the current direction the Wii is taking and that he does not feel that the Nintendo Wii has been a success. "Everyone thinks Wii is such a success, but Nintendo hasn't become overproud of it. It's a good start, but it's only the beginning. We want to have the customers continue playing. We want to continue coming up with new proposals to them, and have them keep playing. Only then can we say that we've accomplished our goals. We've been preparing to make things happen."
Currently, the Wii's fate is undecided and as sales drop, it makes you wonder what the next choice for Nintendo will be. I personally hope it won't be the end of the Console but Nintendo need to stop aiming for new Gamers and take care of the fan-base they have currently.
This emphasis on new gamers will undoubtedly cause Gamers to turn away from Nintendo if they don't soon see improvements and less Party-Based games coming to Store shelves.

Thanks for the comment by the way, I've not been around GS properly in a while so didn't think anyone would read.
