American Gangster is truly a film that the world has been lacking in recent years. I know the whole coke, drug, heroin, rise to the top thing has been done before but this is done in such a classy way. Unlinke there awesomely bad 1995 film virtuosity, instead of being in the future, there in the 70's this time.(Just making a time refrence and how they have previously worked togther virtuosity has nothing to do with american gangster.) This film was very will written, is the perfect length has some very good acting, and is very engaging, It's also very real. From start to finish your always almost on the edge of your seat, i felt you could sort of predict what was going to happen. But There's not much to say about american gangster except that it's great, go see it! RIGHT NOW!

Batman Begins is an appropriate title for the rebirth of the batman series. In my opinion the Tim Burton film's were really a homage to batman, not a real batman movie. But Nolan has finally decided to follow the roots, of the graphic novels. I'm a huge batman fan and seeing how the final Batman & Robin film completely did the name injustice, I was ecstatic to hear that a new one was coming out. The film follows the complete noir style of the graphic novels, it's truly a dark and twisted tale, and seeing how it's only getting darker with the release of the dark knight. I believe that the batman series has been revamped and rejuvenated and finally is true to it's origins.

The 1988 animated film Akira, I believe was groundbreaking for Japanese animators. Seeing that American cartoons are whole hearted family fun fest, Japaneses animators truly have something better than anything any American animator has ever done. Set in a post world war III society motorcycle gangs rule the streets. One night while a I guess a rebel group, not entirely sure what to call them, break out a child test subject from a government facility and the motorcycle gang, the rebel group and the government all intertwine with one another. The writing is incredible for the time it came out and it has such an amazing story line and great animation, It's good that Katsuhiro Ôtomo didn't sell it off as a series as well because sometimes series based off movies don't work as well. The music is also great, the action is great, I mean there isn't much more to say about it, I wouldn't call it a timeless classic, but it definitely had raised the bar for what anime should be. So as home simpson would say, since film spot does it by 5 stars i'll act the 4.5 as 9 thumbs up... So go watch it.

Ya know, I usually don't like to go nostalgic put since the sequel is coming out, I've decided to review the original. In short this movie in my book is abysmal. The plot follows the company from the previous alien film's Weyland-Yutani Corporation's owner Bishop Weyland assembling a team to track a signal from one of his satellites. Upon arriving there they discover an underground temple of some sort, and that's where the chaos of the movie begins. From the acting to the story it's all just a big blur. The predators come how ever many years and test their battle skills. The movie is just hard to explain even the action is so fast paced and unnoticeable, and the ending is something I think is ridiculous, what I'm curious about is how their going to do the second one. But all and all don't waste your time or money, because it's 2 hours you'll never get back

Yeah know, I'm a huge simpsons fan and I mean huge, every since I was a wee lad i've loved it, i've lived by it. I'm not gonna give it a 100 because i'm gonna be real and tell people that as a superstar fan it has it's flaws. After 18 years and 19 seasons the simpsons still has it. But the thing is they were in the movies, they pretty much had the ability to do anything they wanted with the movie, such as the creators of south park did with the movie. I felt like the simpsons movie was a long episode made for everyone. It had that old simpsons feel, and was good a heart like all simpson episodes. So I would say when it comes out on DVD go bonkers, and buy it!

Like one of Sam Raimi's old horror flicks, spider man 3 has too much of one thing, Sam Raimi. I went into the theater excited, seeing that finally a good super hero trilogy is hanging in the balance of the thrid movie, expecting as much from the commercials I went in happy but came out sad. In the thrid installment Peter Parker/Spider- Man has everything he's wanted, recognition, the woman of his dreams, and a new super villan to fight. But all kidding aside here this movie sucks. From the over acting to the extremely over dramtic cheesy plot. The studio let Sam Raimi have too much control over it and it essentialy became a Sam Raimi movie good but overly lame. I just feel that it was way too scriptied and was totally miss advertised the battle within was 10 seconds, we saw black spiderman once, and venom for a total of 5 minutes. He wasn't that awesome at all, so at best this is a rental, unless your an ultra super spider man fanatic i wouldn't suggest this movie.

Movies based on video games, do they work? The answer is not really when resident evil game out it was a land mark video game and it was only a matter of time before someone got the right to make it into a movie. When resident evil came out in 2002 i thought it was a great movie, somewhat true to the origins of the game, good action, good story. I hate Paul W.S. Anderson, but i have to say he did a pretty good job directing the movie, and it was actually shot decently, but over the years, the movies has gotten progressivly worse. In the recent installment of Resident Evil: extinction has proven a new low. The Movie is short, boring, and not plot driven at all. After the world has been taken over by zombies alice is on the run hiding from umbrella satalites. Umbrella is running the world from underground hives from different countries and a small band of survivors are trying to survive day to day. What I am baffled about the most is what happened to the characters from the second movie, like jill or Angela Ashford? those are major plot holes in the script. Also the tagline is off all bets are off is wrong, seeing that they goto vegas fo about 20 minutes of the movie, and nothing that huge happens, and seeing that they claimed it would be the last movie, the ending leaves you with that old familiar feeling of sequel in your mouth, overall its not worth your time, rent it don't buy.

28 weeks later, what can i say? The Sequel the to the critically acclaimed 2002 independent british film, reminds one of the original film. Set 28 weeks after the events of the original england is rebuilding, repopulating and under control of the american army. When a young brother and sister leave the quarrentine zone to visit there old home, they find their mother. When their father a maintenance in the quarintine zone goes to visit his wife, he see's that she is infected and still functional at the same time and when he finally makes the move of kissing her all hell breaks loose. Like the first movie the survivors are on the run from the rage virus again but the whole twist of the movie is there also on the run from the military this time. For a zombie sequel it's alright but it's too remnant of the first movie, it feels all too the same, but if your in it for some blood, some gore and some zombie killin this is the movie for you. The acting is very good too for alot of unknown actors, and the story explained about is alright so. Enjoi!

It really is more than meets the eye. In this day and age alot of people hate Michael Bay, and being a film maker alot of us hate him. I really don't see a huge problem with him, he's the only director who really makes good blockbuster movies, but thats besides the point. Onto Transformers! Bay is known for long movies and this is exactly what transformers is long, but plot driven. In Production for so many years, we saw cgi test's of transformings in car commercials, and the end result was beautiful. The action sequences are simply amazing, and story is alright (like i said plot driven). Like all of bay's movie it starts out slow, with the young protagonist sam witwicky trying to sell his family airlums to make money to buy a car. When he and his father purchase his car, it seals the young mans fate and he learns that his car is part of an transforming robotic alien species called the Autobots and that they are there to find the all spark before the dreaded Decepticons do. Split almost between a comedy and action, the acting works despite the fact that it is cheesy at certain moments namely the house scene with all the autobots, it works and it's extremely enjoyable.

Ahh it's that time again, another graphic novel movie. In a slew of super heroe's, noir stories, and hundreds of comic book heroe's 30 days of night seperates itself from the rest. If any of you have read the graphic novel the movie sticks closely to it's roots, for a few minor changes to the main story. The writing is supber and acting is alright. It seems that Josh Hartnett has a knack for graphic novel based movies nowadays i wonder what he'll do next. The only flaw the movie really has is that it doesn't explain the roots of the vampires well, and the love story behind the whole movie really doesn't develop to the end. In the end its a hard review to write only because it's so similar to the novel except for a story changes. I'd Say if you love vampires and some sort of action go see it, it's not half bad, and it's definatly one of the better horror movies out this fall season

Yeah know Saw is begining to become a problem in the film world. I understand that if a franchise is still making money there still going to make that product, but when will the torture stop! I think the first one was something groundbreaking in films, James Wan had something great, but Darren Lynn Bousman has just ruined the series. Starting off with the murder of someone jigsaw relays onto a detective that his game has "not ended" and it is "just begining". The biggest flaw I feel with the film franchise is they havnt really established the characters in a solid manor. Names were being thrown around that I didn't know which character they applied too. The Writing is Good but when the ending comes around it's really a splinter in your brain, instead of leaving the theater telling your friends "ohh man I can't believe that happened" your gonna leave asking them what happened. The Visuals are also good but what horror movie today doesn't look good. Another problem is the advertising the trailers show it as a contiuation of what one man can do after he's dead, but at heart it's an origin story. In the end the only reason the franchise is still alive is because of the Saw name, soon enough were going to have another jason franchise on our hands. Before you know it'll be Saw 13 In space!
