Andonio's blog:

The BEST place for the MOST useless information.
Sunday, Jul 1, 2007

Well, a few more things have happened since my last post, so I thought I'd list 'em.

  1. I've reached level 8! W00t!
  2. I've joined "The World of Nintendo" Union.
  3. I've edited all the ratings in my games collection to best suit the new rating system.

All in all, that's all folks!

P.S. I plan on compiling a list of the "Laws of Gaming". I shall explain more of it when I actually post it.

Well I'll be damned, 250 forum posts! I'm not even gonna try to make it sound large, but to give you an idea, it's like, a half of a half of 1000!

Now, I've recently joined 3 great unions, The Spooks Union, The Political Union, and The Super Mario Wars Union.

I think I ought to end this blog rather soon, the reasons:

  1. It's 11.30pm at night (where I am!)
  2. The previous blog was so long, it makes up for it!

Phew...

Finally, I've completed my horrendous 2 years of school in Saint Andrew's International High School. In order to explain some of this back story, listen to the following:

2 years ago I was happily living my life in Switzerland. Then my dad was offered a job in Blantyre, Malawi. So I had to leave the life that I knew, and enter a third world country suddenly. I've pretty much hated my experience here, but it as given me a lot of creative influence (seriously, I've made so many timeless jokes about this country!), and given me an insight on life in Africa.

It's made me realise a lot of things that I didn't before. For instance, the ANC (African National Congress), which is the current political party of South Africa, is not the saintly government that the "West" chooses to believe. As good as it is that the disgusting Apartheid philosophy was overthrown, the ANC is riddled with corruption, and covers up its terrorist roots. I met this one mother of a friend of mines (who is South African), and she spoke of how it was when the ANC bombed a mall that she worked in, and killed many of her friends.

In addition to its terrorist past, the ANC has engaged a "reverse apartheid" since the fall of the white majority government. They refuse to give any government positions to any non-Africans, and often prioritize giving black citizens jobs instead of whites, when it should be equal. This is causing many whites to leave their homeland, and move to Europe or other countries in Africa for jobs because they simply can't get jobs in South Africa.

The ANC has also completely screwed up the education system in South Africa, as the teachers are paid peanuts, and are better of getting jobs elsewhere. This breeds a new generation of uneducated individuals. I've recently heard that the pass rate to finish school in your final exams is 30%! Many are thus resorting to sending their kids to boarding schools in Europe. All in all, things seem pretty bad.

If something isn't done soon, South Africa will be the next Zimbabwe, and that's seriously saying something. Why, when my dad was there the other month, inflation was so bad, that when he had a bottle of water in the morning, it was more expensive than it was in the evening the previous day! Another example was when he went to a bar with some golfing buddies, and they bought all of their beers ahead of time, otherwise it would be way more expensive! It's insane!

On another (Africa-related) topic, international aid. Western countries will all throw international aid to any needy African country, but it in the end; most of it goes to waste. This is primarily for3 reasons:

1. In a war scenario (Darfur is the prime example), when aid reaches a village, it is often later ransacked by any rebels who are in close proximity.

2. Again, in a Darfur-esque situation, when aid arrives, it helps for only a short while, but the war continues until somebody actually stops it. The problem is, the 1st World is too occupied by pointlessly hanging around and occupying the Middle East, that it can't be bothered to help crush an oppressive African regime, where the people could actually do with help.

3. Governments receiving aid often are corrupt, and many leaders keep financial aid in their own pockets.

Now, for a non-Africa related topic:

A few weeks ago, some other studentsI was asked by my school to write a speech about what I foresee in the future. I decided to create my own political ideology (which I have named "Dystopic Liberalism"). You may like to read it:

"The Future"

What other concept has mankind pondered upon for so long? Beginning of time? Meaning of life? The concept of what will come forth in the future will always plague humankind, to the point in which we are to discuss whatever is to come, when it is us ourselves who determine the outcome.

Future is something, in my opinion, that can not be seen. However, it can be predicted. Many foresee the future as a dystopia, where people are enslaved, treated poorly; famine has struck the world, or a spread of a new killer disease. This pessimistic view is shared by many, especially in what seems to be an ever pessimistic world.

Others see the future as the opposite, a utopia. A society in which people live good long lives, resources are plentiful and conflicts are scarce. This utopia would also mean complete and utter freedom for every minority, legalisation of numerous narcotics, and a very lax legal system.

I suggest another alternative. Why can't the future be a kind of...both? Why not the freedoms of a liberal, utopia society, taken to an extreme, giving a dystopia (whilst still being liberal)? I think it is very possible.

I predict (in my own humble opinion, I must add), that the way of the future is extreme liberalisation, leading to a period of democratic stagnation, which will then usher in a successive revolution of society. I shall give one example of this process. Say, for instance, the government decides to lower the national voting age to 16. This is how my theory applies to it:

1. The government passes the aforementioned law, which is met with much gratitude by the people which is affects. (Extreme Liberalisation)

2. Then, it is found out that 16 year olds are simply not wise enough to cast a vote. The government realises this, yet choose to not take away the rights of the 16 year olds, for fear of a great backlash. This affects the nation greatly, and brings it down. (Democratic Stagnation).

3. Then, a social revolution comes forth, and "sets the wrongs right". (Social Revolution).

This theory could apply to any right given to any people. Other examples could be for legalization of drugs, gay rights, gun possession, freedom of speech, and other such "freedoms". My theory basically states that once a freedom is given, it is nearly impossible to "take it back". For example, it would be like denying civil rights in the modern day. The backlash would be crippling.

This is my very own opinion on the way of the future, and how the world will be. In the end though, only time will tell, as it always has done.

I hope you enjoyed my rant, as I actually enjoyed writing it (believe it or not!).

NOTE: I DID NOT INTEND THIS POST TO BE IN ANY WAY RACIST, SEXIST, OR OFENSIVE IN ANY FORM.

Some people just don't have opinions. Like Andonio.
Andonio must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could Andonio possibly have for not rating a single film?
