And no before all the baby talk comes flooding in around stinky nappies, white vomit on your shoulder and all the other associated stuff this has nothing to do with a 'happy accident' at my house LOL

What in fact I'm talking about is my brand new PS3 that is adding yet more mayhem to an already congested area around my TV, what with my Wii and 360 already taking up valuable space. So yep I'm the proud father of a beautiful, bouncing baby 40gb PS3 and I'm cuffed to bits .

So what are my thoughts on this black beauty? Well I'm going to compare it to the 360 I know I shouldn't but hey I can't resist.

As far as setting up goes very easy. No brick for the power and HDMI is as easy as pie, though there was some straining and grunting trying to get this into the most inaccessible area in my TV.

As for the OS and online set up. I don't know perhaps I'm just to used to the 360 or perhaps it was just the fact that someone (and I will hunt them down like the dog's they are) had already taken my name that kind of made it feel slightly less of an easy and enjoyable experience compared to the 360. But hey I'm online now and whilst I haven't ventured into any games ( I don't have a headset gggrrrr that was one omission I wasn't happy about) it seems to be working.
Which brings me onto the PSN Store. This seems a bit congested and not as easy to find what you want though again this may be due to me not really being that used to it.

As for games well I only have Resistance at the moment. I wasn't that impressed to begin with. Then bizarrely played it for 5 hours (that whizzed by) without a break, realising perhaps it is a good game after all to hold my attention for so long!

That's about it really I know I need to put it through it's paces a bit more and I will do in the coming weeks. Oh and if you want to add me feel free PSN ID: MunkieMunch

I'll add you soon, A PS3 is much more fun than a stupid baby

A headset isn't worth bothering with, most of the people on PSN don't have them or are complete idiots

try and get MGS4, MotorStorm, Uncharted, R&C Tools of Destruction and GT5: P if you have a HDTV, get some Blu Rays in!

The holy trinity is yours! A 360 owning friend of mine who recently bought a PS3 said he wasn't all that impressed with the gaming side of things and it sounds like you have a similar underwhelming feeling. However, he said that Blu Ray films were absolutely amazing. Plus you get to play Motorstorm, Little Big Planet and MGS4. Congratulations

yeah the gaming side of things is weaker than the 360's but, the PS3 is getting stronger in the gaming side and has many great games, it can store films and TV shows, whether they are downloaded or ripped. at the risk of being moderated, I currently have the Dark knight on my PS3 along with many other films and quite a few episodes of my favourite TV shows. it can also store music at your own custom chosen bit rate, its also a excellent upscaling DVD player

Blu ray films are great, aslong as you don't buy a crappy one

Sweet! Added you. The PS3 really is a great multimedia hub, and like WWIAB, I've got a ton of stuff like that on mine *ahem*. I'm down to less than 100GB on my 250GB HDD. I'd seriously suggest upgrading yours if you plan on using it for more than games.

@ WWIAB Thanks for the game tips mate tbh I only really want MGS4 and GT5 oh and also LBP when it comes out I can't wait to give it a try with some Blu Ray

@ INKling yeah don't get me wrong it is anawesome machine and oh so quiet compared to my 360 which sounds like it's taking off at times but for gaming I think my 360 is still my weapon of choice after all can't let all my GP's go to waste LOL

@BZSIN hanks fella your officially my first PS3 online chum!! I was thinking about upgrading but I think I need to let my wallet calm down a bit first LOL

@ Macacd hello fella have to agree LBP is that game!!! tbh though I did get a bargain here it's from a guy at work who brought it for Blu Ray but doesn't have a HDTV LOL it's brand new still in box with 2 controllers (1 being the new dual shock controllers again still in it's box) with Resistance (still in it's cellophane) all for £200 who could argue

£200! thats a steal!

Get some Blu rays in, and have fun!

if you want to use other video content, just put it on a memory stick and copy it across to the PS3 hard drive, I have found it compatible with .avi and MP4

@ BBS Yeah it does look good and it's oh so quiet I'm sure you can get a VGA cable can't you? @WWIAB Tbh fella I don't really collect films but i may well rent a BR film tonight just to see what all the fuss is about and yep £200 is a steal

lol at the blog title, glad to see you're enjoying the PS3. A friend has one and has never been happier with a console, so they must be good.

@ 1005 Yeah it sure is a beast but like most developers I still haven't tapped into it's full potential but I think using it as an entertainment hub may well be the way of the future.

YAY! The Holy Trinity! I am just a little bit jealous... Are you converted then? Which do you prefer the Xbox or the PS3? I am toying with the idea of the Wii at the moment (and I have to admit a PS3 as well - purely for the Blue Ray you understand and not MSG4!) - gotta get my son of damn Kung Fu Panda somehow and thought that the Wii might be my option!!

Ooo good news on the 3 flashing rings on my Xbox - appears to be a power issue when charging my controllers on standby - stop charging controllers on standby - no flashing red rings - HURRAH!!

Hello Wavey Well I prefer the controllers on the 360 and well the 'high brow' start up on the PS3 made me chuckle but if I'm going for gaming I will always prefer the 360 as thats where I have a larger friend base and of course (rather shamefuly) the acheivements but we are all guilty of that Blue Ray though is awesome ...esp with surround sound etc ...just wow. But as i have said only really got it as it was a bargain and for games like LBP, MGS and GT5 (if they ever release it ) As for the Wii one word of warning I have played more on my PS3 than i have on my Wii and I got my Wii at launch. There just aren't the games for it Good news about your 360 though I'm fearing for mine I just got C&C and it has crashed and crashed whilst playing perhaps i need to show it more love!!!

Hope your feeling better as well
