Yeah this whole digital distribution garbage is really getting to me. My bandwidth limits are pretty good but once I start downloading large things like that I find myself in trouble very quickly. I don't particularly enjoy patapon (it's very hard for my non-rhythmic self) but I wanted to buy it anyways. They can go to h-e-double hockey sticks now.

Why can't you play it? Don't you have net connection on your ps3? It's kinda funny how people were moaning about sony using umd. Saying that dd was the future, but now people are mad that they might go full dd with the new psp.

That's because both a brand new dvd format and digital distribution are BAD ideas in handhelds. A new dvd format is a bad idea as far as consoles go and on handhelds, where lack of load times due to cartridges reign supreme, it's absolutely ridiculous. The digital distribution is even stupider when you think about memory issues. If you've got a 2gb memory stick and each game takes up anywhere near 250mb that's only eight games a stick. So if you're a huge fan of it and have a large library like I do of PS2 or 360 games then that's a helluva lot of money (saying nothing of saved games). It also has to do with bandwidth limits or lack of easy net access for some people. Most people have internet, not everyone has wireless.

You can still import a disk from Europe, though, right? It doesn't make it any better, but you could do that if you wanted. I should. I would DL this game, but it doesn't fit onto my memory stick, no matter what...damn you Sony!

so could you like download it from a WiFi hot spot or what? Any ways I don't have a PSP and if I did ever get one i would need to play the first patapon before touching patapon 2. DD isn't that bad of an idea for the PSP though since so many stores hardly carry any PSP stock as is. However most titles for now should still get a store release since there are plenty of people who don't hook up their systems online or who wouldn't have enough room on their storage devices do download a bunch of games.

Col: DD is digital-distribution, and Sony's making it the sole release format for Patapon 2 in North America, making it impossible for many to play it.

sa10kun: Yeah, I have a faster connection now, but it's really unstable, and only effectively double the speed of dial-up, so it's not very good at downloading anything over an extended period of time.

I'm rather miffed that people want to change the standard form of distribution on a system partway through its lifetime, especially since it'll screw many people out of future games that they would have been able to get through what should be the standard medium.

Misfit: I know what you mean. It seems that they're trying to save money by not printing UMDs, and forcing the storage and download costs on the consumers. Though I'm wondering how much money they'll be saving by driving away consumers.

Django: I always could, if I knew where to do so. But I don't like their green-boxart, and I won't be able to load anything into it from my P1 save. It would make it so much easier if SCEA would just release it on UMD over here too.

mahoney: No broadband access of any type for a good 500km from me. I don't have any problem with DD itself; it's just that when it's the only way to play the game that it becomes problematic.

Call me dumb, but can't you buy it on your PC and put it on your PSP from there?

Well I could buy it, but my connection isn't stable enough to download more than a couple of megabytes at a time before it decides to cut out for a while. I strongly prefer physical media anyways, and really don't appreciate them not giving us a choice, especially when everywhere else got one.

I TOTALLY get where you are coming from there. Downloads cutting out have plagued me for about as long as I have had a computer, DSL or not.
500 kilometers from high speed connection? Where do you live, Antarctica? (Also, as an American, I'm not completely sure what that is in miles. WHY AREN'T WE USING METRICS?!? )

Well, if it makes you feel better, my PSP is broken , so I can't play it anyway. It's been 3 months and I refuse to buy a new one until I figure what Sony does for it at E3.

As for my week... apparently it was "Be a jerk to Mike day" and I didn't get the memo. And it was for 2-3 days in a row. People are just plain rude sometimes and I was getting ignored (or not heard?) by some people and it just really got to me.

I have also been thinking about life and how it's gonna change in a month, graduating from high school and all and how I'll never see some of my closest friends again, or at least regularly. It's just so sad to see that... People I love to see everyday... BAM! gone...

Sorry to hear that. I should try out Patapon, I hear really good things about one and two.
