I was waiting for this season to happen. Since getting my PS3, I complained endlessly about the lack of quality games available. Luckily I had franchises running in almost every sports game I own and that's kept me busy for the last year. But now that great games are coming out, I find myelf upset that they're all coming at the same time. Of the big games this season, I've jumped on the opportunity to get Dead Space at launch. But that's like comparing an ice cube to an iceberg. There's just so much I want to get and being the hardcore gamer I am, I want it all at launch. For the first time I find myself incapable of doing that and it PISSES ME OFF!!! I can't complain though. At least there's plenty of choice for when I DO have the money to shell out.
So aside from Dead Space and Silent Hill: Homecoming (which I got two weeks earlier) here is a list of games I'm looking forward to that will unfortunately go on the back burner until I find the money to pick them up...
FallOut 3
Bioshock
FarCry 2
LittleBigPlanet
Tomb Raider: Underworld
Saint's Row 2
Guitar Hero: World Tour
Alone In The Dark (I have faith in the update)
Prince of Persia
Mortal Kombat Vs DC
Smackdown 2009
Street Fighter IV
... And this is of course just what comes to mind, and does not include the games that will get high ratings from Gamespot makig me itch to get them too.
Anyways, this is just a rant. But, if you're expecting a game to be great and think I missed it, let me know so I can start tracking it. ![]()
"Home" is just around the corner, and as we see Gamespot's previews, I see more and more people with mixed emotions about it. Many have openly bashed on the concept. But, I'm one of the excited. Online gaming is great, but I often feel it's a bit detached socially. There's just too many people coming in and out of games like Warhawk, Burnout, and MSGO to really keep track of people you enjoyed playing with.
I only have a handful of friends with PS3s and we're not always on the same schedule. I feel that "Home" will be a good place to see who is on at the same time as you, and leaves an open forum for conversation. Also, because there is actual stimuli in it's set up (ie: video content, theme cafe's, the mall, mini games, etc...) I believe it will leave us with a lot to talk about and get to know one another.
However, none of us have yet to be told how the servers will be split up. Obviously, they won't be able to have everyone with a PS3 in the same space. That would just make it WAYYYY too cluttered and full of lag issues. So, since I'm sure they will be splitting people up into groups, I'm making this blog (and a forum post) to invite English speaking people, who are excited about "Home", who are 18yrs or older, and who have a nightly gaming schedule (8pm-12am) to seek me out now and add me as a friend. This way, our little group of friends can always know to have a bunch of people on who are fun, excited, and speak the same language.
My user name is Amir29. Add me when you can. I look forward to meeting you
So now that we've fully entered Next Gen gaming, I'm ready to go. I got my large Screen HDTV, and a PS3. I went all out and got EVERYTHING under the sun. HDMI cables for everything, digital optical cable for all components, tower speakers and a new amplifier, four PS3 controllers, keyboard and mouse for PS3, new coffee table to make everything comfortable, and Playstation Eye to communicate with Next Gen friends.
So now everything looks and sounds great and, I can play online with barely any lag. So why the hell am I barely seeing any quality games out there? Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, and a small library of sports games (except Madden 08 which SUCKED) Have all impressed me with what my system is capable of and for that I'm excited, but seriously is that all? I'm frequently going to stores and saying, "There's nothing I don't own that's worth my money here." That NEVER happened with the PS2!!! I used to go broke at my weekly visits to my local Gamestop with a bag full of games to check out and enjoy. Now, I just leave empty handed. Not only that, but I look at their "Coming Soon" section and don't even see anything exciting on the horizon.
"So", I tell myself "Maybe it's just difficult for developers to get something out now. Maybe, the good stuff is about to come and just not yet" But, that's when I read an article here in Gamespot that developers are joining in the trend of low production cost for games and leaning towards arcade-style gameplay.
Did someone lose their FREAKING MIND?!?! You say you're leaning towards arcade-style gameplay immediately after the fall of arcades? Who the hell made THAT executive decision? At a time where consoles are more expensive to manufacture and difficult to afford by the average gamer. You look to skimp out on YOU'RE production costs? Games cost us $10 more and YOU want to save money? People lost interest in arcades and YOU decide that we should buy it anyway? Ladies and gentlemen!!! I announce to you the greatest drought in gaming since Atari's fall till Nintendo's rise!!!
