X3 is the one game I've bought in a long time that I've regretted. I didn't read the scarce amount of reviews that all lauded it, I didn't read enough previews, and I was wow-ed by its beauty. That doesn't make it a bad game... but it certainly wasn't my style.

I bought X3 with the hopes of it being a kick ass combat simulator with the added features of trading and enterprise building. What I got was a trading and enterprise building game with a mediocre combat simulator. I've been thirsting for the next Tie Fighter or X-Wing Alliance for years now. X3 is not that game.

I'm not writing a review for it because I really don't think my perspective is valid. I went in expecting a completely different experience than the one I walked away with. I was totally bummed. That doesn't mean, however, that it's a bad game. I have a feeling there's a fantastic game inside that pretty little wrapper - but I loathe management / economy simulation games... there just not my thing.

I will say this, however, Egosoft had better step it up and create some decent documentation for the game. After the half-ass "tutorial" in the beginning, new players to the X universe are left scratching their heads and wondering what to do. The manual that comes in the box would be better used as fire-starter, as it does nothing to actually familiarize a new player with how the trading and economy building systems work in the game.

Total bummer... Oh, well... Just picked up Dragon Quest VIII and Magna Carta today, so I'm looking forward to a few weeks of solid RPG gaming goodness.

Woohoo! My first post! The next few wallet-draining months will be a phenomenal time to be a role-playing gamer. We've got some incredible games coming out, and here are a few that I'm really excited about (in no particular order):
I'll be reviewing each of these games as I play them, and I'll also be digging into the back catalog to review some older games, as well!

Some people just don't have opinions. Like Alemtris.
Alemtris must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could Alemtris possibly have for not rating a single film?
