I know the title is rather weird but I figure it is acceptable for what I will be talking about...
So recently I have been play Final Fantasy 9 and it is quite the dramatic game. I was skeptical of the game before I started because it looked like it was more geared towards a younger audience. Little did I know, I was in for a slap in the face. This game is serious to the core, yet it allows time for comic relief. All in all I am thoroughly impressed with the game so far.
To the point of the entry though...
As I play Final Fantasy 9 (and any other game I've played in the past) I begin to feel more of an increasing "zombification" if you will. Even though, many of you might see this as blatantly obvious, I didn't until recently. Zombification, by my terms, is playing through a game for a countless time without break, which makes you lose sight of the quality and all the hard work that was put into the game. I am at the point in FF9 where I am entering the Lifa Tree. The reason I bring up zombification is because from the point where I needed to level up to get to where I am at, to the Lifa Tree, I've been doing a button mash. I am running it via a emulator so I can increase the speed (also a game ruiner). Granted, if you have played through the game before, I believe increasing the speed is fine. Since I've started this five-year-old button mash spree I've lost sight of how good this game has been. I've been rushing through important scenes that last 5 seconds but have huge importance. Somehow I bet the makers of FF9 didn't intend for Dagger and Vivi to be melee character. Yet, I use them in glorious button mashing unity. I can list off exactly what has occured in the game so far but I didn't get the full affect of what has happend. So, I am going to regulate myself each day playing FF9. I'll switch in between playing FF9, FF1, and Dawn of War, just so I don't ruin FF9. I have a feeling I should go back and replay some of the FFs, so I can get the full affect of them. Whoever plays through a game like FF9 zombified, you are not only ruining the quality of the game but wasting your time. If you want the full effect of a game... regulate yourself... don't zombify.
