What was up with E3 this year? I thought so much more would have been revealed, but it was sadly boring and most of it was stuff we already knew about. I didn't like any of the press conferences ![]()
360: I didn't see the whole thing, but sadly there was nothing really "New" being shown. Ya, there were some new trailers and I like the way Gears 2 is shaping up, but that's about it. It was boring, but for what it's worth, it wasn't the worst. I have my eye on RE5, of course, and I'm stunned at how difficult it looks.
PS3: I was a little more excited about PS3 because afterall, I own the system and I wanted to see what was coming up. Though I liked this one the best, it still wasn't that great. I was hoping for some footage of the new Jak game I've been hearing about, but I got nothing there. On the bright side Resistance 2 gives me the feeling it will surpass the 1st one, though I keep getting the feeling Killzone 2 is heavily overated... But I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Similar to Xbox's presentation, it really wasn't that great, but still passable I guess. I'll be keeping an eye on the game 'Dead Space" too, it looks promising.
Wii: This might be the worst Nintendo E3 I've ever seen. They brought almost nothing to the table, and I get the feeling Nintendo is showing signs of weakness. It seems without their big name titles (Mario, Zelda, smash bros. ect) they've got nothing but gimmick games such as Wii Fit, and it p!sses me off
One bright spot was a new shooter coming out for the Wii with impressive graphics called The Conduit. It's just "Promising" though, I really don't know much about it, and yet it's the only part of Nintendo's E3 I really got excited about, which is sad
Where's Nintendo's originality gone? Do they even care about real games anymore? Because I know for sure I haven't played a decent game for the Wii since Brawl (Which was awsome). Hell, there were still some titles they could have used. They could have made a new Star Fox game, or how about F-Zero? GX was easily one of the best racing games I've ever played. All in all, Nintendo's was the worst. Sorry Nintendo, Animal Crossing doesn't cut it, give us a real game please. ![]()
Yep, needed to get that off my chest, it figures the one year I actually have G4, E3 is a complete let down ![]()

Also if you're thinking about getting another system, I'd say you're better off getting the Wii anyway. Because to be honest, if you got PS3, you'd be getting something very similar to the 360 (With some exceptions, of course), while at least the Wii's different. And while they're currently giving us lousy games, they still have some very good titles exclusive to the Wii (The reason I'm complaining is because I beat all of them
Speaking of Metroid Prime, I still have to play the first 2 games on the GC. The only one that I have ever played, in that franchise, so far, is the original one on the NES. Well, I also played a little bit of the 2nd one, as well.
Nintendo is getting dumb. Back with Nintendo and Super Nintendo, they had big core games and were riding at the top of the rankings. And even the Nintendo 64 and Nintendo GameCube, while dragging in the ranks, mostly tried to please major fans. The new Wii is actually getting discouraging. It's becoming the casual gamer system, which is what I always new the Sony systems as. All they are throwing is a constant party of little E party games for a big appeal. That will keep them alive, yes, but sometime they will need a wake up call, telling them that the big fans will begin feeling cheated. I actually feel that comparing the Wii to the Nintendo GameCube, is an insult to the Nintendo GameCube.
The Legend of Zelda is Nintendo's way of redeeming itself. That series is, not only amazing with a strong fan base, but also has a big appeal to different ages.
XBox 360 is probably the best system out right now. While not doing as good as the Wii, at least you can see the effort in their games to make fans happy. I actually want this system now, especially when looking at the Wii's pace. Two reasons that are alone good enough, are Resident Evil 5, and Soul Caliber 4.
I don't know what to say about Sony Playstation 3. Sorry, and no offense, but I can't look at that system without laughing. I always have gotten a laugh out of it, but it especially started when I saw screwattack.com'd top ten game list for it (funny stuff, for those who saw that :lol
That may have sounded a bit rough at some points, but I really don't think this is the most encouraging video game generation. We are in the middle years of the current game generation, and two systems haven't gotten started yet.
The PS3 is easily the most powerful console of this generation, but I also guessed that this time around, and lot of developers would start going 3rd party, including Japanese companies, meaning that the XBOX360 would be getting a lot of good games, which would have been exclusives to Sony, in the last generation. Seeing as how the X360 was the cheaper of the 2, I had to go with it.
Also, the mere fact that Ninja Gaiden II would be an exclusive to the X360, was what made my decision final
Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 , Mario Kart Wii, and Smash Bros Brawl just came out, so you shouldn't expect sequals any time soon for their major titles. Even Zelda TT has only been out for 18 months.
Not for me. The only upcoming game I really want is the new Star Wars game. But we've already seen videos for that game long before E3.
I know you haven't played Gears of War yet, but it's a great game and Gears 2 looks just as good so far. Then there's Soul calibur 4 (Which will have Yoda and Darth Vader), and like you mentioned, The Force Unleashed. Have any of you heard about another Star Wars game being released, by the way? Apparently it's specifically Lightsaber duels, but I never saw it at E3.
On the other hand the only real video game system, XBox 360, is a hunk of junk. The guy who did the review stated that he went through eight XBox 260's. Eight! Then he stated he still has his original Super Nintendo and Sony Playstation.
He didn't talk about the negative qualities of Sony Playstation 3, but he didn't have to for me. That system is a disaster right now. Back in production, in a year, it went from the most anticipated system to the most hated system reviled all over the internet, as Wikipedia states.
Once again, I kind of needed to vent. But come on, have video games gone down this much? It's horrendous, if you ask me. No wonder my passion for games has dropped.
It's not mid way yet. And I don't know what you mean by them not getting started yet.
"First of all, we have the Wii, which isn't even a video game system. Think about it, people who don't like video game systems, like the Wii, as stated in the review. You can even find old people playing the Wii. To the true fans, it is just another Nintendo GameCube. Unacceptable."
I disagree with all that.
"The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess? Really, like he said, it is an updated Ocarina of Time with new dungeons. Don't try to say otherwise"
What did you want, an updated Wind Waker??
"On the other hand the only real video game system, XBox 360, is a hunk of junk. The guy who did the review stated that he went through eight XBox 260's. Eight!" He sounds like a liar to me.
"He didn't talk about the negative qualities of Sony Playstation 3,"
Maybe that explains why he bashed the other 2 consoles, he's a Playstation fanboy.
We are two to three years into it. Video game generations usually last about six years.
"I disagree with all that."
Too bad it wasn't even an opinion.
"What did you want, an updated Wind Waker??"
I think you entirely missed the point.
"He sounds like a liar to me."
That's assuming people like making up lies about themselves, and putting them on the internet like they have nothing better to do, and thinking that everyone else will care.
"Maybe that explains why he bashed the other 2 consoles, he's a Playstation fanboy."
Perhaps I forgot to mention that, rather than do that, he went through the only good Sony Playstation 3 games... the only ones.
Wii and PS3 have only been out 20 months. And generations usually last about 5 years.
ensatsu-ken
Nintendo's presentation was far worse, though, IMO. It seems as if they are starting to care less, and less, about their core gamers, and are just switching their focus over onto the mass market. I was, personally, really hoping for a new Zelda game. That way I would be sure that I would by a Wii, next. But, then again, I may just buy it anyways, since it already has at least 1 good Zelda game, as well as 1 good Mario game.
I'd have to say that the PS3's presentation was on par with Microsoft's. I don't really see anything about it that makes it any better than what the XBOX360 had to offer. Resistance 2 looks awesome, but that's about it, really, as far as their exclusives go, IMO.
