Congratulation's Barack Obama - President Elect

Like Fangle, yeah I'm a little late with this but hey I stayed up to watch a lot of it so I was sleeping Yesterday . In fact I did the same 4 years ago if I remember correctly although I was disapointed this time that Jon Snow didn't have his swing graphs.

In fact I am very happy Obama won, until a month ago I have to admit my faith in his win wasn't really positive having a slightly closed minded view of the American public. This means that although I would have liked him to have won I didn't think he would, and then for some reason that all changed to realising that it meant more to people that he did win, and Mccain had almost no chance.

My brother posed the question 'Why is it that only black voters are being interviewed by the TV press when his campaign hinges on equality among all, afterall white people and hispanic people voted too?' And I have to agree, Race was such a big issue in the UK media's eye and I feel a little too much in my opinion as his policies got pushed to the background. I agree, it matters it definitely does but when Jeremy Paxman got Dizzee Rascal on his Newsnight Special just because he was Black and popular I knew that seemed to be what mattered most at this present time. Jesse Jackson was moving though and clearly more relevant being a former candidate himself and Civil Rights leader.

What Obama needs to do now is prove that he is a good President and by watching his motivational victory speech I believe he realises it won't be an easy ride. Knowing this, unlike with George W, I have faith that he'll be able to make a difference to the USA and possibly a little to the world as well. Only time will tell though and when he enter's the White House for real on 21 January 2009 we'll see.
