Today I was doing some internet-based investigation trying to uncover the name of a currently-unknown-but-soon-to-be-famous actress, who will be appearing in a new show I plan to watch. Actually, I was investigating the names of two such people. After significant research (two hours of it, might I add) I found the first one and submitted it the show guide. It was accepted shortly thereafter.

Then I focused on the other actress - it took me FOUR HOURS TO UNCOVER HER NAME. (Yes, I had a lot of time on my hands today.) I submitted it to the guide which is currently editorless. I got a rejection note that read "Thanks, please wait until you find all available credits before submitting it all."

!

!!

!!!!!!!!!!!

It took me close to six hours to uncover the names of these two people. Two for the first one, four for the second. I don't feel it was anything close to gaming to submit them separately. After all, I FOUND them separately. It took me forever to do so (and I am thorough researcher, just ask my editor.) And we're going to bandy about a measly five points?!

Sometimes this site just pisses me off.

The trouble is, other people in the past HAVE submitted actors/actresses one or two at a time to accumulate CP's quickly and gain editorship of a show and new/upcoming shows are particularly bad for this. Without naming names, I have seen, in the past, guides with no eps yet aired and an editor with hundreds of CP's already accumulated. If the show has yet to air, have patience in adding info...that's all I can advise you.

What maritimer says is accurate. While it is true that you may be scraping together information, the abuses of the past are legion on this site.

Look at some popular Disney TV movies. ONE episode (movie) has hundreds of CP points. But you still are skilled at rants.

It's because of the amount of points you get for cast subs that they want them done together. Maybe as you knew you were going to research the second one, you could've waited until you knew for sure if you'd find the second name and then submit.

Dan I'm sorry... and I mean this in the nicest way possible but... give me a break. I don't feel like I need to wait, for however long, to submit something when I worked as long as I did to find it. Besides, how did I know when or if I would find the second name? Six hours of work is damn well worth ten points. Definitely more so than just copying and pasting the information from some other site. Or submitting ten quotes (Which, btw, I think is really lame. Quotes are so easily plagiarized or improperly transcribed.) Anyway, yes, I am trying to gain editorship of this show. But it's not as if I submitted ten (or even four or five) cast members one right after the other. It took me a damn long time to uncover these unknowns, I didn't find them at the same time, and I kind of feel like those points were earned. It's hardly gaming. Staff asked me to wait until the show airs to submit her name. Oh yeah, that's fair. I do fours hours of research and someone on the east coast will watch the show credits and submit it while I'm at work and four long hours of work will be for naught. I do not game. I do not cheat. I love this site and I play fair (which is why I am low on guides - I play by the rules.) But I don't feel it's necessary or even fair for someone to have to wait until they've done six hours of work to submit two cast members just because tv.com wants to be stingy with points.

I understand exactly where you are coming from but it's not my rule. The rule is that the cast list should be as complete as possible the first time it is submitted which is generally once the episode has aired. I know it's now how it works, but surely as long as the information is submitted it doesn't matter who submits it? I would be annoyed if I was going for a guide and someone else submitted it first but as long as the info is there I'm not fussed if it comes from me. I admire your enthusiasm but 4 hours searching for one name is way too long! Especially when the cast list will reveal it anyway.

The problem stems from the fact that it's an unaired show, and they want users to hold off a bit until it airs. I mean you already have over 50 points for the show, with only two episodes that haven't aired yet. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting unfair play in the slightest but it is a lot for an unaired show.
