While 2009 seemed like a somewhat dry year for me (in terms of games, that is), looking into the latter part of the year has me very excited. Since I only have an Xbox 360, I guess the monetary burden is slightly eased ... but not much. Here are my confirmed purchases in the upcoming months:
» Forza Motorsport 3
» Lost Planet 2
» Modern Warfare 2
» Assassins Creed 2
Although a seemingly small list, it's much more than I usually buy (hey, textbooks are expensive!) in that timeframe. Plus games like Mass Effect 2 and Splinter Cell:Conviction are likely purchases as well. That should keep my busy for quite some time!
What games are you planning on purchasing soon/in the upcoming months?

Like you, I only have an Xbox 360, but that time of year is always busy. A game like Modern Warfare 2 would last me for quite awhile, however, I'm still going to buy these following games from now till the end of 2009:
Battlefield 1943 (Arcade)
Perfect Dark (Arcade)
Gears of War 2: Dark Corners (DLC)
Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition
Forza Motorsport 3
Assassin's Creed 2
Modern Warfare 2
I'll consider getting these game, depending on reviews and such:
Dirt 2
Need for Speed: Shift
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Halo: ODST
Max Payne 3
Q1 2010 is looking good too:

Alan Wake

I'm definitely getting MW2 and Assassin's Creed 2, but add Mass Effect to the must-buys there! You're right, financial debt, but more likely time debt
