GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con
Monday, Apr 30, 2007

My mom cut this out of the newspaper back in either 1990 or 91.  Back at that time, it was supposed to be a joke.  Now, we have professional gaming tutors and even people who will play a game and sell the profiles or characters via paypal or some other manner.  Think of how many people make a living as game testers as well!  Good ol' Gary Larson; a prophet of culture.

and dont forget professional gamers. in an EGM i was reading yesterday, some professional gamer named alexis herbert was getting interviewed, and she gets around 40,000 a year, plus free meals, hotel rooms, and maybe travel, i cant remember. she plays halo literally 12 hours a day.

and also gold farmers *coughillegalmexicanimmigrantscough* and the like.

when i first saw the "prophetic comic" i was thinking "left behind: the comic book edition" or something.

and btw, i dont care if jeff hates the word "gamer"

Thats fantastic. It is amazing how the game industry has evolved over the years. I can remember when my dad bought an apple computer in the early 80's and we played the first Castle Wolfenstien in monochrome green screen. Now I own a laptop that was built specificaly for games.. nothing more.
